I've had my M3 about 3 months now and very glad I bought one. It has replaced an E60 M5 which I had for about 3 1/2 years, the M5 was epic and never any trouble but it was a well looked after low mileage example with Mondial warranty.

After having 2 M3's and then 2 M5's I thought I'd never go back to an M3 after M5's as to me the E39 and E60 M5's we're just so much more useable for a family of four over the smaller M3 and ride comfort far superior. E46 M3 was a great looking car but I never had any love for the E90/92 generation M3. I did briefly look at the Audi B8 RS4 but decided to stick to BMW.

I'd been teasing myself for about a year looking at BMW AUC website everyday for about a year before buying my F80 M3. I started off with intentions of buying a F10 M5 as it seemed natural to move from one generation M5 to the next but after a while I realised that I much preferred the styling of the F80 M3 with its pumped up rear arches. I never even gave a thought of buying an M4 as they just don't look so "pumped up" in my eyes and again didn't really do anything for me. At first I was set on finding a good spec Yas Marina blue M3 but my wife didn't like Yas marina and persuaded me to change my preference to Sakhir Orange,I'm glad I did as I love the colour now.

Had been looking for months and nothing much was coming up in Sakhir plus I wanted heated rear seats ( I know a funny option that most wouldn't bother with ). I couldn't believe it when the biggest spec F80 M3 I had ever seen ( in a year of looking ) appeared on the AUC site and it was at my local dealer plus it was in Sakhir Orange had only covered 9,300 miles!
It had £18,000 of extras ( I was looking at non comp pack earlier cars ) looking at the list the only extra that the car didn't have was the TV.
I booked a test drive straightaway. Test drove it a day later and bought it.

Anyway 3 months later and ive done about 2000 miles including an 800 mile holiday trip. It's sitting at 28.8 mpg average for the 3 months which is impressive. I would say the car is deffo quicker than the V10 to a ton or so but then I think the V10 would romp off at higher speeds.
Don't think their are any negatives I have about the car and so glad I bought an F80 M3.

That is a lovely motor! With a manual box that might just be all the car I could ever want, in my view so much nicer than the M4.

How are you finding the move to turbo charged power over that glorious V10?

I've had quite a few turbo cars in the past including 4 Sierra Cosworth's but this modern tech turbo is so much better for day to stuff. The torque is much lower down obviously than the V10, it comes in from the off which makes the power more useable without having to do silly speeds. I prefer it being more practical. The V10 was relentless though just felt like it revved for ever and never stopped pulling. I prefer the M3 but then it's almost 9 years newer and cost 3 times as much!

Each to their own, but there is no way i could have this car with a manual. It would be DCT all the way for me but different strokes and all that.

Lovely car OP. That colour is gorgeous and i didn't realise that they did a matching colour for the seats. It has to be said though, Yas Marina Blue is a lovely colour too and probably my pick out of them all.

I was set to buy a Yas marina blue one but the Mrs said Sakhir was more lairy. The kids didn't like the blue either. I quite like the Tanzanite blue as well. Sakhir Orange certainly gets you noticed that's for sure!

Would have to agree with that. The DCT is brilliant. I never even considered a manual. I loved the SMG on the M5 but the DCT is much quicker and smoother plus D mode is a lot more useable. I found the SMG much more suited to trackdays than previous manual M cars I'd taken on trackdays. I'm sure the DCT will be similar on a trackday.
My wife has a Mk7 Golf GTI which she specced as DSG from new, great gearbox and it suits very well for what we use it for and that's day to day running about but if I was to buy a Mk7 GTI myself I think it would be more fun with a manual box.

I wasn't too sure at first about the Sakhir leather as I've always had black leather but when I saw Sakhir exterior with black leather it looked a little too plain.
