Bargain Civic Type-R FN2

Very nice. May I ask how much you paid?

Looking to buy an FN2 if/when I sell my current car. Have my eyes on Championship White models, around 2009.

Did you have any issue buying in NI and driving back to UK? There is one I fancy in NI for 7k, and the equivalent in the UK is 8k.

The number begins with a 2! FSH, 106k miles. Just needed a few jobs doing. (Spent a fair bit on it now getting it up to standard)

The championship white is the one to have obviously, but a big difference in price!

Well, that is a bargain. Cheapest FN2 I have seen are pretty rough, leggy examples around the 3.5-4k mark. I actually don't think the CW is that much more expensive - for a 70kish mileage FN2, you're talking 6.5-7.5k, for a 75k mileage CW FN2 you are talking about 7-8k. Worth getting I think.

I like the Mazda 3 MPS, but they seem pretty uncommon (couldn't see any near me last time I looked), and a bit of a reputation for unreliability!

I'd like an Integra DC5, but the FN2 seems almost as good a car for 3-5k cheaper and four to seven years newer.

I'd say the DC5 would be more fun. Considering these are cheaper, you'd have to do some thinking.

Thats why I went to Ireland to pick it up Have you had a Honda before?

MPS are unreliable it seems, but a lot of fun and power for not a lot of money

You mention the location several times - would that be somewhere in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland?

I own a Honda, but an unexciting one - 140bhp 1.8 Civic. Bought it only a few months back after my missus talked me out of the FN2, now thinking of selling up if I can get a good price and getting what I wanted to begin with!

MOT carries over etc, even better, you don't know the age of the car from the plate!

It would, it's only the same as moving a car from Devon to Lincolnshire (two counties chosen from the top of my head)

Anyway OP, really nice car. Definitely on my shortlist for next time.

I do wonder if the CW FN2's will hold their value as the last cheap n/a Type R with an LSD. The FN2's I don't think will hold their value that well (and indeed haven't), though perhaps they will come back into vogue as one of the last high revving naturally aspirated hot hatches.

I echo that thought. Everything else of its period was more powerful. The oddball choice. Sort of like the NSX, they never upped the game over it's time period. Always under powered to its rivals.

Now the first ones are ten years old, the prices should bottom out in the next year or two. Wonder if they will pick back up again...
