2006 Megane Cup 272

Hi all,
As some of you will know (and no doubt most not!) I recently sold my beloved Bianca White Gti6 Track car, as I am changing jobs, loosing a company car, a house project, and the new family wagon isnt coming until the new year....
So, with the application of solid man maths and some serious negotiation with the wife, rather than buying a winter hack, I have purchased a bloody marvelous Megane Cup, which, as it has rear seats, will help bridge the gap until the Cupra 300 arrives, and equally make a great platform for a stonking track car in the new year. (The Pug was in no way suitable to fill this gap, but has gone a lovely chap who assures me he will continue with the TLC)
As you can probably gather from the title, its far from standard, running a mighty 272 bhp and 302lb ft of torque....
The spec is as follows:
2006 Megane Cup
Turbo back, Miltek
Full Forge Motorsport solid boost pipe setup & silicon hoses
Forge front mount intercooler
Forge dumpvalve and blanking plate (turbo chatter galore, comically chavvy but I kind of love it in an anti-establishment kind of way...)
603 uprated injectors
R26R Single mass flywheel and clutch
Mapped by Renault gods RS Tuning in Leeds
Cup Suspension with Cooksport springs (great ride height but laughably hard, very much like the other R26 thread, its too hard for pressing on down country roads, although i'll hold out for track work to assess properly)
Mintex pads
Brembo high-carbon discs
Nankang NS2R 180 Compound - which are utterly utterly rubbish
I was chuffed to find one with immaculate recaro's (as per other thread, are a tad narrow for my fat arse) and Xenon's
As a 225 Cup, it doesnt have a diff, which i knew, and will be retro-fitting, as alas, it has bugger all traction, 1st, 2nd just spin the wheels in the dry, 3rd if on lock or damp)
I am pleased to say, its utterly brilliant, a total animal, looks great, and very fast. It does lack the compliance and agility of the 306 to a degree but im hoping new tyres, and potentially suspension will help that in due course.
With plans for an R26R rear cage, diff(!!) brake upgrade and some nice proper buckets/harnesses in the new year im hugely excited for the 2018 track day season

very nice mate enjoy looks great in that colour, I currently have a liquid yellow R26 with almost the same modifications done same power 280/300 and they really do put a smile on your face every drive. I have yokohama advan ad08r all round and they are great so much grip.
Ah thats good to hear as I was planning on going down the AD08R route having had them on my Gti6 (as well as RSRs before that) - what size are you running?Looks great Chris. Saw it for sale on the owners club recently.
Of all the things to sort first, after tyres, get a LSD fitted (and SMF and R26r clutch).
Having had a 275/311 225 Trophy (cup spec) I feel your traction pain. The an LSD and rear ARB are essentially the only handling differences to the R26 and my god, totally different car to drive.

Its already got the SMF but not sure on ARB, what width is the updated one?

The rear either has one or doesn't (the 225 doesn't), the front comes in three thicknesses from the factory but other sizes are available.To retrofit a rear ARB you need a whole new rear beam.

The Meg was faultless, fast, and with a few choice mods (namely brakes and tyres) could be a really quick track car. It is already as fast over a lap as my old fully stripped and track dedicated Gti6, so that is a great start considering i struggled to slow down and equally put the power down.
Had some great fun dicing with M3's and a newer Megane RS, im extremely pleased!
