Little bit of background info... I've been driving around in the Corsa for 18 months while going through a divorce and finally, post settlement, decided to treat myself to the Skoda, which I collect tomorrow, it's a 2.0 TDI 184 with a manual gearbox and 24000 miles on it.
The Clio on the back of the truck is a replacement shell for the stickered one which was 'our' track car, spend a lot of money on it and then my ex decided she wanted to go racing so we spent even more, the picture above is the result of the second shunt in as many rounds, the first resulted in the rear being caved in so the shell is not salvageable, I've got everything, all the spares, tools, other wheels, loads of discs and pads which have been bedded in but not used, absolutely loads of stuff, all for a price I was more than happy with.
Managed to get a proper bargain with it, it was advertised on eBay as a non runner, I sent the guy a message straight away, agreed a price which was less than half what the other Racing Blue ones are selling for at the moment, collected it the following evening with help from my mate Scot (who will get a lot of name checks during this thread as he's doing the reshell)
After driving to Essex and bringing it back up to Scot's garage, we got it off the truck, pulled it into the workshop at 11pm, attached the jump pack, turned the key and the fuel pump wasn't working, I'm not going to say how easy a fix it was but suffice to say it took a few seconds to sort it and it now runs like a dream.
It's almost too good to strip and swap the bits over, the interior is mint, the gearbox doesn't make any odd noises, the bodywork is perfect apart from a few of car park dings... but who needs two useable every day cars?
So over the next few months we'll be swapping everything over from the old car, probably even the engine as the old one had a cambelt and water pump pretty recently and the new one is an unknown, there's a lot to do, everything on the old car was uprated so it won't be a quick process.
The plans with the Skoda are a lot more simple, probably a remap (it's a diesel), maybe some decent lowering springs and it'll probably end up with a tow bar as well so I can tow the Clio, which will save me a couple of quid a year on tax and insurance.
