Afternoon pistonheads, I've recently turned seventeen and bought myself my first car! It's a 55 plate 118d beemer (2.0l diesel), made sure to get the m47 engine variant (the bulletproof one that apparently runs forever!) as I'd heard of a common fault in the timing chain of the newer n47 engine (sorry if I've butchered the engine numbers, I'm pretty sure they're the correct names of them :/ ) Anyhow, anyone who knows of this model will surely know of the downward facing sh*tpipe of an exhaust it has, has anyone on here done anything about theirs? Fitted a new one or something? I've noticed the pipe coming from the back box bends almost immediately, would it be difficult to cut it and fit a new one? Thanks in advance, Voucher Boy smile

Good first car! Personally, I'd leave it but then I am 33, you could try Longlife exhausts? They specialise in custom back boxes etc.

IIRC It's turned down to stop the soot spraying onto the car behind you.

Try powerflow or longline if you want a custom backbox fitted smile

Thanks for the replies! I'm looking for something that I won't need to inform the insurance company of as they're very restrictive with mods, all I want is a neat little chrome straight exhaust, I'll have a look at the ones you recommended, I'm down in South Wales if that makes any difference!

You would have to inform your insurance company if you change your exhaust.
