Have been working on this for a while. It's a 1972 T2 camper running an Impreza engine.Have recovered
and replaced the inside of the van. My first attempt at wrapping. Thought that if i used a busy wrap, it could
hide any minor issues with the wrap. Pleased with the results. Wrap material cost me £170 for 15mx1.5m.
Still lots left over, hence getting carried away with it. Still a bit too finish off.

Good work, Impreza engine is the logical choice.

What engine is it?

I purchased the van with the engine conversion already completed. The engine is a subaru EJ20 2Litre non turbo
connected to the original vw gearbox. Poptop roof was new and painted.Theroof, from the gutters was also restored ad painted.
The original paint on the outside of the van, had been applied using a roller .Most of it come off in big sheets, when using a pressure washer.

The Inside was a mess. This I covered in the stretchy material, that is used to line the inside of vans. All the red and white covers on the panels
were cut and sown together by my 77 year old mum, who is a seamstress. Most of the panels i cut out of ply, but a few were reused.

The van needs a few bits finishing, such as gear selection refurbishment and the engine is not running right at the moment.

Years ago I used to help a mate out who raced in the alternate engine class in the VWDRC and I seem to remember TSR used to be the boys to speak to about these Subaru conversions.

Might be worth tapping them up for some advice if you struggle with the engine running (if they are still about of course)

I think miles from you, but this is the guru for scooby engines in campers.

I've had lots of aircooled vw's and an impreza. But not put the two together !

It's a common (ish) conversion due to engine size/layout.

cool van, seen loads of people apparently doing impreza tubo conversions but nver really understood the need for that much power.

2.0 Na must be what about 140bhp? should be comfortably enough to keep the old thing moving forwards up hills

Probably upsets the purists- which isn’t a bad thing to be honest!
