2004 Porsche Boxster 2.7

This is my first PH worthy car - I've had quite a few Land rovers over the years (but they all tend to end up looking like mobile chicken sheds) and a few Peugeot's and a Saab but all with 'mpg friendly' diesel engines.
Rapidly approaching my late 30's (i.e 36) and finally having a house with a proper garage (it can fit a car as well as tools/bikes) I decided to look for a wee 2 seat convertible. I was leaning towards the classic MX-5 but I am 6ft 3" and I could fit but with the roof up it was not comfortable and I looked at alternatives. Eventually my girlfriend got fed up (after the day I prepared a projected depreciation/running costs spreadsheet for various cars) and told me to go out and look at some Boxsters as I was boring her silly.
Despite reading all the online guides and forum advise about buying on condition/history - I bought the first one that I looked it mostly because I liked the colour, it made a nice noise and the jack/spare wheel were still in their original packing. It came from a garage near Glasgow
I picked it up a few days later and had a bit of a wander on the way back to Edinburgh via the A71, I had planned to go down the A74M and come back the Moffat Road but it was wet and a half forgotten incident a few years ago with a pool car (BMW 330d) on a roundabout has given me a thing about damp roads, unfamiliar cars and rear wheel drive, this led me to come back a slightly shorter way....via the Fife coastal road
I did drop the roof and go across the Queensferry crossing, and yes I know what I looked like!
A few days later it then went to a Garage in Winchburgh (Stuart Roden - lovely guy would highly recommend) to get checked over (should have done this before buying it!) and following from that I had the brake pipes replaced, a suspension refresh and the exhaust fittings renewed.
I have probably been using it to too much (its been to the supermarket, into the office, used to attend a meeting in Dundee) and more properly it had had a weekend run down to East Lothian. Its done almost a 1000 miles in under a month.
Its a great wee thing, feels really planted on the road, and puts a smile on my face! Not bad for £6.5K
my girlfriend has christened it Boris the Boxster!
I'm only planning a few wee tweaks - replace the windscreen wipers with aeroblades and put a set of Michelin's on it for the spring, apart from that I might do some driver training and then see where that lot takes me.

A lovely original looking car. Like the Turbo style wheels" I believe they were an expensive option from new so not many have them fitted. These cars are such a bargain currently, due to the sheer numbers produced. I have used mine as daily drivers and taken them all over the UK & Europe. I have owned four 986s over the years and covered round 90k miles. Never had a breakdown, other than one flat battery they have been as reliable as wood burning stoves. Superbly engineered and packaged. Not many 2 seater roadsters will swallow all the camping gear for 2 week trip. Headroom is also superb. The only negative regards interior space for me (6'0 and 15 stone) is the leg room. This is easily fixable with a £200 Porsche part, namely the GT3 console delete carpet piece. It makes left leg much more comfortable, particularly on a manual car. It also makes the car look so much cooler..GT3! I am addicted to 986 Boxsters. Brilliant analogue cars. Hope you enjoy ownership as much as I have. Get on Boxanet if you haven't already
