Thought id make a thread of my small ‘collection’ of strait six BMW’s that coincidentaly are all 2003 cars.

First up my favourite,

A 1 of 15 techno violet E46 M3, done some research and believe it’s Possibly the only with champagne leather.

Manual with a nice spec and has been a cherished car, used by me as a dry weather car and spends its time in a carcoon during the winter.

Unfortunately I have fallen victim of making it to nice! hate leaving it in car parks using it in anger etc.

I also have another e46 M3.
This ones now considered a big miler in M3 terms at 130k, however has excellent history and has never let me down.
This one is used in all weather, although I look after it well I’m not precious about it.
Quite a nice way of enjoying a car.

For track duties and the occasional commute I use this quite high spec 325ti, I know these are unloved but this is a fantastic car and is much More fun than it has any right to be.
Over the last year and a bit I have spent a hell
Of a lot of time and money getting it to a level I’m happy with, it’s now set up very well with quite a nice spec and some trick parts.
Completed 8 trackdays I’m the last year and didn’t miss a beat.
Taken a deposit so it’s off to a new home in January and will be sorely missed.

Lastly we have the tank...

Originally I was looking for some 280m alloys for the violet M3 and ended up buying an entire car due to the wheels.
With a new born just arrived it made the car an actual viable purchase as well as man maths logic.

On 170k, but has quite literally had everything changed that would ever need changing.
the previous owner whom was an older chap despite the mods, had carried out a manual conversion and clearly enjoyed maintaining the car over his 5 years of ownership.

Feel a bit bad taking the wheel from it as he went to the effort of changing all the hubs to E60 items to get the wheels to fit.

Early days yet but early impressions are good,
even if I only get a year from it I’m happy for the price I paid.

I have owned/leased various cars and always keep coming back to old BMW’s.

we just sent back a golf R and was 3k PA under the allowed mileage due mainly to me preferring to drive these old things!

Great collection OP! thumbup

I love your Techno Violet M3 - that is a fantastic car that needs to be cherished and spoilt rotten!

I only discovered straight 6 petrol BMWs in 2014 when I bought a Z4 Coupe - I wish I had found out sooner!

So later that year I added a 325ti that I still have which is such a great car for the money.

And last year I changed my Z4C for another Z4C! (It's a long story). laugh

I haven't found enough brave pills for an M yet, but something with an S54 engine has to be the ultimate straight 6 BMW!

Nice selection of BMW's.

Compact looks great. I'm sure new owner is looking forward to getting his hands on it. wink

Lovely selection you have there, that Violet one is special.

You now need to add a nice Z3 to your collection, six cylinder of course.

What engine is in the E39 Touring, presumably a straight six?! Lovely collection, not tempted to ditch the daily M3 for a different model, if so which?

Funnily enough have just been watching the re runs of the Cafe Racer program on Dave and there was a shot with a tattooed fit young woman, holding a pit board with ''stay frosty'' written in chalk. I did wonder what she meant.

2 E46 M3s and an E39 touring, what a great collection. I might have missed it but what engine is in the E39?

Cracking collection op.

I went from a 2003 325ti into my current techno violet m3 so I know how great both of those are - I do miss my ti.
