Campovolo Grey Abarth 595 Competizione
Discussion
Collected the car on Saturday after an 8 week wait from time of order, which was great as was originally quoted 10-12 weeks.
I haven't driven it that much yet as I didn't drive it the 100 miles back home myself but first impressions are its a fun little car.
Taking it easy for the first few hundred miles but on a couple of occasions it's surprised me with how much pull it has through the gears. It's also stupidly loud but not so much from in the cabin.
Other initial impressions are the car is night and day different in sport mode, more than any car I can remember. Steering really tightens up and throttle response much sharper. Suspension is very hard, more than I remembered and the short wheel base doesn't help it. Not a big deal but noticeable.
Only negatives are CarPlay seems to be pretty hit and miss, don't know if that's my phone or the car though! Wish CarPlay would fill the whole screen and not be windowed in the middle of all the other options as well, seems a waste of the screen. I also thought the standard stereo was surprisingly decent, which it is until you actually drive the car. It's pretty poor and should have gone for the upgrade option.
I went for the bucket seats, and whilst they are very comfortable they are extremely narrow/tight. I only ever saw people mentioning the general comfort of them, not that if you are above average size you probably wouldn't even fit in them. Pretty funny but luckily I fit ok!

And funny to compare to a normal Series 1 Fiat 500:

Thanks.

Looks good! Had my Competizione for about six weeks now and have done about 700 miles or so.
Still love it - so much character and it does feel pretty quick - certainly fast enough to give some other cars a surprise, and to put a smile on my face.
It feels like the dampers have bedded in now and it’s not as crashy as when I picked it up - maybe I’m just imagining this though! I find the Sabelt seats really comfortable, although longest trip has probably only been about 40 miles or so. Will be using it for a few longer fun trips over Christmas.
I’ve got that standard audio as well. It’s not as good as the Meridian Surround in my Discovery but it’s pretty good tbh. I do spend a lot of time with the window open to hear the exhaust though! The nav is great, and screen much more responsive then then one in the Disco.
There is a very active modding scene for Abarths, but I’ve Only done a couple of little mods - alloy oil cap to match the fuel cap, and a red tailgate strap to replace the standard black one.
Mine’s white with red stripes and mirrors and whilst it looks great when cleaned, it gets dirty soooo quickly. I’ve put a good layer of wax on it so at least it’s easy to clean.
Really, really pleased with it. Enjoy yours!
