Eggchasers car history and brace of Fords
Discussion
Well, not normally into doing things like this but what better place to start (hopefully it won't sound like a poor attempt at a matchmakers website!)
Starting this off at the start. for my first car, I fancied something different to the normal little poor powered hatchback that you see all over the place. I hunted high and low and with my parents help I found something I didn't see very many of in the sixth form carpark.

I loved this thing, got used and abused, not very fast, not very good handling but that was not the point. It got used to it's full potential doing my best in off road competitions all over the south west.

It was then decided as I was going further afield to another college that this was probably not the best thing to be driving 60 odd miles 5 days a week, so I gave in and ended up with a little euro box.

This was nothing special, but it was dry and warm when it rained comfortable and a bit more economical for a poor student like myself.
After I had finished college and got myself a job I was due a change, still sticking on the French theme along came a red Citroen C4 coupe, so at this time I was 'running' both the Citroen and the Land Rover.
Again, Citroen, nothing special or fast but I like it.
Still in the same time as the Citroen I had a fancy for something old German and unreliable.
Call on the VW Beetle, I had two of these but one will not be mentioned as it was a terrible mistake, all faults hidden away. So naturally I went out and got another one. while the first one was being sold as advertised for scrap/spares and repair.

Again really liked an old car you could work on with spanners, hammers and tin snips. Didn't go very far in one go, went to a few VW shows and some general good times.
As time went on the Beetle was not getting the use or treatment is deserved so had to be sold. So I was now down to 2 vehicles.
This had to change and at this time parents were looking for a bigger car also.
So again on the reliable front I found a very nice Range Rover P38, and by the sound of it, it must of been the most reliable P38 in the world as over the time we had it, it never went wrong.

So that took me back up to 3 vehicles but wanting some speed in my life, the C4 was sold and it was replaced with something less practical but much faster and better handling

This was my first 'Sports Car' and I really enjoyed the way it handled, sounded and went. Only being 23ish it was the smallest engine they did but that was not the point. I had a convertible sports car by the time I was 25. Yes people took the piss as it was a 'Hair dressers car' but I didn't care one little bit.
At this time my first had failed the MoT on a rotten chassis. We thought long and hard as what to do but unfortunately not having the space to change it the poor old Land Rover had to be sold. It was sold to a chap who promised he would look after it and get it back on the road and I think back to standard.
I had a break from getting cars for a bit until something with another green oval peeked my interest.

A series 2A Lightweight with a 3.5 Rover V8. As nice as it was it still wasn't the original Land Rover but got used as hard as the first!

Then a lot of them were sold as I had a company car and was looking at a house purchase so needed as much cash as I could!
The house sale all went through and after living with only a company car for a bit I got bored and had managed to get everything in order to get a toy again.
This them came along with the plans of track days, hill climbs and sprints.

Sadly it wasn't the case as I was made redundant after owning it for around a year. I did get a track day or two in though and managed to make it a 'practical' car also

This was then sold to get as much cash as I could to tie me over until a new job was found and a VW Passat, bought for £1100 was put in its place.
This now brings me onto my brace of Fords.
The first every day is a Mondeo titanium x sport

Not the most economical estate going but I like it, like the looks of it and the dog doesn't mind getting in the ginormous boot it has.
This has now been joined with something that hopefully will actually get used by me and my dad on hill climbs, sprints and track days.
A 2005 Ford Fiesta ST 150.

The plan is to have the first season keeping it stock to get into racing, getting to know people and the rules and regulations and enjoying it.
We have managed to join a few local motor clubs and have taken part in an auto solo on new years eve.

Anyway after that, no doubt you are bored, if you managed the whole post!
I don't think I have missed out any cars.
I will try and keep it updated, even if it is just for myself, with races that we manage to get to, results and any modifications we do!

Thanks, can't fault the Mondeo apart from the display screen in between the gauges that dialed when I first got it. I made sure it went back to the dealer and was replaced under warranty so that was all good.
I do like to vary my choice of car. Get as much driving experience is as I can and each car has taught me something different and I'm sure made me a better more aware driver for it.
I will try and keep you all updated with the fiesta and how we get on. Think the first season will be just trying to improve and get used to it all.

Well, not much to report on the car side. A few small things done, timing strut fitted (taken the strut off but the bracket is still on for the moment) and booked in for some better tires next week.

I have received my licence, got the race suit, helmet, balaclava and gloves.
We have booked in for a test day at Gurston Down Hill climb for the end of March to see haw it all runs.
On the Mondeo front, as I ride my bike to work nothing to report with that. Just a wash and some new rear tyres.

Well, first hill climb (or trial day anyway) has been completed.
We went to Gurston Down, near Salisbury, for the day.

There was a number of different cars there from Fiestas to proper hill climb single seater type cars.

I had a few goes up the hill and my time was getting better each and every run so I was happy with that.

Really good day and I think I can say we're hooked.
We have a 'proper' race in Wiscombe Park next month and then a sprint at llandow the month after.
Not sure on modifications yet but sure they will come in time.

For anyone that may be reading thins post I will continue, or just keep it running for my amusement.
First hill climb was at Winscombe Park a couple of weeks ago.
I was happy with my times, improving each time and even got quicker times than some others on the day.
Really enjoyed the day and even the other half came and watched in the afternoon and enjoyed her self.
My first sprint has been completed last weekend, a nice day out in Llandow. I decided to camp the night before the race, admittedly this was a mistake as the only tent I had was the one I put the tools and spare tyre in while racing and it was a little snug and damp to say the least.

Once the night was over the track dried out and I had a good day, managed not to come last which I was happy with. As the day went on the track dried out and I progressively got quicker each time, started the day on 107 seconds and ended it on 101 for one and three quarters around. Still room for improvement and also time to think about getting more performance from the car.
