New car day Audi SQ5 3.0 V6 BiTurbo Tdi

Hi guys,

Today has been new car day for me and I’ve decided to opt for the 2015 Audi SQ5 after much deliberation.

I’m pretty pleased with my decision so far and I never thought I’d hear myself saying “ it’s a diesel but sounds rather sporty”... well it’s no petrol V8 but when you flip it into dynamic mode it’ll still put a smile on your face!

I think the second most noticeable factor is the amount of torque the car has 650nm which is nearly 100nm more than something like an V10 Audi R8 it’s quite impressive.

The car is almost 2tns so it’s no lightweight but still accelerates pretty well and clocks around 5.1sec 0-60mph and books at 313bhp.

I have previously been driving a 2016 VW Scirocco R which was 285bhp and obviously had alot lower centre of gravity than th SQ5 and weighed much less so I was expecting to feel a little nervous in the corners but so far so good the SQ5 seems to have tonnes of grip and hardly any body roll for a mid sized 4x4 and corners more like a car than a 4x4 although I wouldn’t compare it to any Elise or 911 but it’s pretty surprising for the size of it.

I’d say from what I’ve seen so far it’s a pretty good all rounder, looks nice, high quality materials, good performance, lots of space, I’ve even managed to average over 35mpg on the motorway.

I didn’t think I’d be owning another diesel and especially one that is swaying my mind into thinking that a diesel 4x4 can feel almost like a sports car but I guess it shows just how far these kind of cars have come. I’d love to see how the Porsche Macan compared but unfortunately it was slightly out my price bracket.. I guess the SQ5 will do for now and I’ll keep saving/dreaming!

Looks good and they drive nice. Remap + lowering springs are the icing on the cake for these.

I don't like Q5's, but for some reason the SQ5 even though its based on the Q5 seems completely different and is a brilliant all round car.

The bi turbo oil burner certainly goes very well - sound nice too!
A mate has had one for 3 years ... 100k km on the clock now, not a single fault to be found with it
As you've come from something very different, interested to learn more about how you continue to get on with it in future

We looked at a new one about 3yrs ago and very nearly pulled the trigger, but just couldnt stomach spending £52k on a diesel Q5 with a replacement on the way.

But at lower prices I am sure its a decent 2nd hand buy.

Enjoy it, they certainly pull well!

lovely car - I would of preferred the diesel, but ended up with the 2017 SQ5 - pre WLTP

Nice, I like these. I never really considered one because my commute is too short for a diesel but they're tidy looking motors, nice size too, not huge but big enough that there's some room inside.
