This car has been in the family forever, however maintenance has been lacking in the past few years/
So an oil change was in order.
Oil filter wasn't too bad

This is the oil that was used mini recommend 5w30 but with it having over 100k i reasoned a slightly thicker oil might help with longevity.

I also ran some STP oil flush through her, to loosen up any s

Another service item, the gearbox oil.
This is considered a lifetime item by BMW i disagree

It was replaced with redline MTL

Next Problem was The timing chain tensioner this is a common issue with the tritecs once they get over 100k
mine of course had to break badly lol, normally the piston gets sticky causing a horrible rattle.
If you catch it early enough no damage will be done, but if you wait the lack of tension on the chain will cause damage to the guide rails and its possible the chain will jump teeth destroying the engine!.

Replacing the tensioner is very easy you require a 19mm socket a medium extension and some muscle.
The 19mm bolt is located just below the oil filter housing.

Nice Mini! Great first car.
How come your Rolls Royce appears to have a 1995 registration number? Also, please take the container of chemicals off the bonnet!

Have a 06 Mini One Seven in the same colour.... Cracking little car...
How hard was the Gbox oil job? Thinking of doing the same to mine as don't trust it's 'Lifetime' status either.
It's an easy job as long as you have a good jack and jack stands or ramps.

The Getrag 5spd requires MTF LT3 2ltrs should suffice.
