kia pro ceed gt

After a long think I decided it is time to change the car.
The suzuki swift sport has been great for the last 4 years but time moves on and I decided to buy a pro ceed gt.
After a long drawn out search the perfect car popped up local to me.

2014 pro ceed gt in red 16k sitting in a main dealer.

After a bit of a talk, a test drive down some good bumpy and bendy roads I convinced my wife to part with 9k of our savings and our swift.

With the car I am getting a service pack deal and the next mot in 6 months time.

No pics yet but will post them this weekend after I pick the car up on friday morn.

Interesting, will follow this. Im after the 4d version of it, nearly bought one a couple of weeks ago, but some missed service dates had invalitated the warranty. Kia seems very picky with things like that.

I think its very good value for money, super nice seats, nice interior and decent handling, and they are still under warranty, a perfect 7/10 car, its probably ste if you push it more, but thats not the point. Only concern for me is the road noise, which is probably worst in class, but that might only be a problem with our swedish asphalt.

Well she is home








Well I picked her up yesterday and had to go stright to work.

Only drove a total of 25 miles in her thus far and thoughts are all positive.

Yes that does only say 19.4mpg and the 25 miles have been fun filled.

It is comfy,quiet and has some pull.

compared to the swift she is not as manic...In that the swift would egg you on to drive like you stole it the kia just seems to be relaxed and composed and just says relax and make yourself comfy and we will still be as quick round the bends.

Out this weekend for a proper run and will know more about her then but the owner manual is massively thick, Like war and peace thick, Its a good job there are lots of pictures in it otherwise id be lost reading it lol

Well after having to fill up the gt from aprox 1/8th tank to full at a cost of £49.70 I am well pleased.
It covered 269 miles at a overall average of 29.3mpg. This is with a mix of 65% town 35% motorway/carrageway driving. Above the 25mpg I have planned for.

Now the car. The seats are amazing, Comfy and supportive,
The overall driving position is spot on for me leading to a much more relaxed drive.

The car rides the bumps well staying planted and smooth with only the very worst coming up into the cabin
.
It does lose a lot of the sharpness I was used to in the swift through bends instead using its mad grip to do the job.

It stays planted and holds it line very very well though the bends though with none of the jitteryness of the swift.

It is also strangly quiet in the cabin until you head past around 5k revs then it just starts to sound a little rough, I am hoping a new stainless exhaust will sort some of that out later in the year.

The rear is like the tardis, Lots of legroom and mates have said they could almost stretchout thier legs while sitting in the seat behind me.

Hows the Kia on longer journeys (granted you may not have done many long journeys so far)? and how is the cabin noise?

OP congrats. I think Kias are fine cars.

My local dealer service department are thicker than anybody I've ever met. But the car was just fine.

Things I miss...

I miss the drama of the swift, I loved the fact that when you grabbed it by the scruff it came live, I miss the almost go cart ride on the swift.

Long journeys....So far I have only went on a 120 mile round trip on a motorway and the rest has been town but, The cabin is almost silent, no rattles etc. It does have road noise from the tyres but thats about it. The cruise control is great addition to have for motorways.
The kia has better seats for longer trips, The ride is smooth rather than hard and bumpy and compared to the swift the kia is a magic carpet.

The swift feels more instant to the throttle but the kia picks up speed quicker and almost effortlessly it seems.

I'm considering getting a pro ceed gt after almost 5 years of mx5 ownership as I'll be moving to a slightly longer commute in a couple weeks (more motorway). As a used package it seems like much better value than equivalent Ford's, volkswagens, seats etc. with the warranty and amount of kit.

I test drove one yesterday for the first time and quite enjoyed it. Its definitely not the sharpest tool out there (the steering isn't great) but it felt quick enough to me at all times and always felt composed yet comfortable. It definitely has its cheap points around the interior but offset by good points like the seats and media.

Is there anything else that you've picked up on OP now having lived with the car for a little while?

I still finding it good tbh
its quiet enough on the move, comfy enough over the bumps and i still love the seats.
I am averaging around 29-30mpg mostly town driving and going back and forward to work but on a motorway it seems able to do around 40mpg on cruise at 70mpgish.
Although it is softly sprung it has lots of grip and holds its line solidly around even the bumpiest of bends.
The doors are heavy thus my wife finds it hard sometimes to open them and get in/out of the car and because it has a lower roofline than the swift had,She has hit her head a few times.

I’ve owned mine for nearly two years now and love it. Okay it is isn’t the last word in driver engagement, but as a complete package I think they’re great.

Late last year I done 1,400 miles around Scotland and Wales in mine and at no point did I have back ache, the seats are super supportive and comfy.

I would really miss mine if I ever got rid of it.

My girlfriend has a plain old Ceed which is built for economy.

Gutless but impressive non the less. Comfy on long journeys and loads of kit as standard.

This made me look at the GT. Didn't realise it was 201bhp out of a little 1.6.
