My first Porsche - 2004 Cayenne 3.2

I recently bought my first Porsche, but it's not the low slung roadster I had in mind (that's next) it's a replacement for the family bus.
My old 3.0d X5 which has served me since 2014 has recently been written off, so a replacement was needed.
I considered another X5, or maybe a Touareg or Mercedes ML, but my searches kept coming back to the big old Porsche.
When the Cayenne was first released I thought it was the most awful looking thing I'd ever seen. Fast forward 15 years and I really like them so I set about looking for one with around £5.5k to spend.
I had a look at a few, 4.5's & 3.2's but I had to walk away for one reason or another.
Came home on Saturday a bit dejected after traveling around and not finding anything suitable, until my wife said "what about this one" showing me a nice blue cayenne that I had already foolishly rejected it because it didn't have nav or heated seats. We went to see it and it turned out to be the best of the bunch.
It's a totally standard 2004 3.2 tiptronic with fsh. It seems to have been well looked after over the years and has never failed an MOT (although I'm sure that will change now I own it
)
I've had it a few days and it's taking some getting used to compared to the old diesel beemer. It's not quick by "pistonheads standards" but has a decent turn of pace for a big hippo!
Weather is awful up here, it snowed on the way home so I haven't had a chance to take some pics yet so here's a few from the advert.
I plan to keep it mostly standard, first job will be to remove the Fred Flintstone cd head unit and get an Android sat-nav installed.

Basically the same unit, not sure if they are interchangeable as one is transverse and one is longitudinal but they are the same capacity, bore, stroke and power output, both narrow angle V6/VR6.
I think Becker made the standard Porsche head unit you have there so the sound quality should be ok even without Bose....be careful the sound quality doesn’t get worse by swapping for a lower quality unit.
Cracking looking car though! I’ve been looking at these for a couple of weeks and they look like they cost a lot more than you’ve paid. Good work!
How are you getting on with fuel economy from the V6? There doesn’t look like there’s too much in the stats between the V6 and the 4.5 V8 S but there may well be in the real world.

I have a 2013 Cayenne and a lot of it has VW and Audi written on it. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, it amuses me when I see similar parts on my Tiguan. Perhaps, VW should put the Porsche logo on all their parts and make the Seat drivers happy.Good choice! I've got one one too! Had it 2 and a bit years, now done 125,000 miles.
I also went for the 3.2 as this is the reliable VW lump, whereas Porsche made the 4.5, the latter putting you in the roulette of borescore city.
Interior is wearing really well. Averaging about 20-22mpg overall. So comfortable to drive and has a nice note to the engine. These are incredible bargains!

The latest thing I've has done (something to watch for) is the window regulators. They rust and fray and then your window won't go up and down correctly. Cost me about £250 for each one (driver and passenger, one went last year, other this year) fitted by my indi.
As for the sat Nav, you can buy android ones off eBay that are replicas of the facelift (2007 model), which effectively look OEM. (Google Dynavin products for Cayenne). I've not tried them personally tho.

Mpg wise first impressions aren't great, probs about 20mpg but that's not why I bought it
Think the V8 isn't much different to be fair, i looked at one at the weekend, but like you said I think the V6 unit is a bit more of a reliable lump.

Small update, my second key has arrived!
The seller didn't have it to hand when he sold me the car,but promised that he'd post it to me.
I won't lie I was sceptical to say the least, but true to his word it arrived today via recorded delivery.
I replaced both batteries with new CR2032's, and it's all good.
After seeing how much OPC charge for a replacement, having two is defo a weight off the mind!
