in a rather wonderful fit of spending I have purchased this 02 Pug 406 estate. 2.0 hdi 110. £300. , but included a full tank ( 70 lts) of diesel, so in man math that is net price of around £250. 162K miles. No history. ( cam belt change must be first on list smile) EML light on. Anti Pollution warning on display, which I think might be MAF related as acceleration is slightly off. Just drove over 140 miles in it with no issues at all..Mot'd until end of ~Dec 2018. Looks like it has had new drop links all round. Comes with Free Moss! Everything seems to work other than the screen was., and one main beam not lighting, but dipped are fine.

You’re going to change the cam belt on that? I’d be playing cam belt roulette if I were you!

We have three at the moment, two 110 hdi estates and an hdi coupe.
One estate was £450 and is a bit of a shed. The other was £350, one owner, 140,000 miles and nearly £4 grands worth of FSH.
They are great cars and 162,000 is just about run in. Both of our estates are 200k + and if we don't get another hassle free 100K out of each we'll be disappointed.

Enjoy.

those marks are moss not rust... have spent an hour looking for rust and none there, either on body or chassis..... Local indy quoted me £125 plus parts for the cambelt .. parts come to around £200, so not too bad, OEM MAF is around £70 so £400 , plus the original £250, puts me at less than a bag of sand all in..... not bad

Such handsome cars. After the very pretty 405, Peugeot actually pulled off s blinder by not ruining it with the 406.

Hope it works out!

A slow and boring update; Have now driven in the region of 400 miles. Anti pollution warning comes on at start and whenever a door is opened. ~EML light is still on. Car runs fine, not in limp mode. Called the garage that has serviced it for last 100k, asked if they had ever done the cambelt, answer, no. Looks like motor has done 165K on same belt. Should be interesting. Might give it a bit of a wash this holiday weekend and see if cleaning the NAF gets rid of the Anti pollution warning.
