Hey guys,

Here's our new car. It's an Audi A6 3.0TFSI Quattro S-Line:

Spec is:

V6 TFSI supercharged, 290hp w/ 310 lb ft of torque (CAJA)
Quattro generation V
Aventurine Blue
6-speed Tiptronic w/ Paddles, S-Mode
Servotronic
Full electric, heated, Valcona leather
Lighting package
Piano Black trim
MMI 3G Plus system
6 disc changer
AMI
DAB
Auto lights/wipers with High Beam Assist
Audi DSP system
S-Line trim spec - Bumpers, seats and steering wheel
19" Peelers w/ full size spare wheel
De-badged from factory

It's a great machine. Very fast car at 5.5s to 60mph. 6-speed auto is fast and smooth. The V6 TFSI is extremely refined and very quiet, quieter than a BMW straight 6. This does lead to a reasonably muted exhaust however, but it still sounds great anyway. Immediate power on tap leads to alarming acceleration, and the car handles very well. The weight is ok at around 1725kg, partly down to aluminium construction.

These are very rare at the moment. The V6 TFSI was made between 2009 and 2011 for the A6 C6, it did continue into the C7 model, but that didn't mean that many bought them. About 50 S-Line quattros are on howmanyleft.com. The engine itself is the S4/5 engine, except derated. A small map will easily bring it back up to its 'standard' tune.

The car had an issue as soon as we had it. The common thermostat issue occurred, and it needed to be taken into Audi for repairs. There is a lawsuit against Audi for this issue in the US, nothing here. Winter meant that many more cars were in the workshop at Audi, and on top of that they had to do deep 'investigation' to bring up the £120/hr labour cost. A backlog of parts meant that it took 2 weeks for a pipe to arrive, leaving us with nothing until the last two days with a Vegas Yellow Q2, which certainly got some looks! But, the car was repaired and we have it back, just surprised us at how long a repair could possibly take.

Other than that, have got LED license plate lights which made it look a bit better. More modern in my eyes. Also got an AMI cable which wasn't with the car, for £50(!). It's a fast machine, very capable of beating most cars on the road today, even our 315hp X5. Doesn't detract from the fact that its an Audi A6, and coming from a BMW fan, whilst they're good, they are boringly good, which is exactly what is expected of a VAG product.

If you've read this far, thanks for reading!

Knew these weren't common, but didn't realise they were that rare - I've got an Avant version. A remap from MRC makes an astounding amount of difference.

Remap should see you gain another 90 horses easily enough and knocking on the door of 400bhp

Nice, I've got an older A6 (2007) in black and it's a nice place to sit especially for longer journeys, I still miss my old D2 S8 though....frown

Unfortunately there's no easy way to make mine faster...

If you go to MRC, who will also re-calibrate the TCU, then you'll easily get over 400PS:

Yes, they're very good on the motorway. Interior is very luxurious indeed. I will say that it feels considerably smaller inside, especially considering the size of the thing. I think there is some sort of monocoque design around these cars, but not sure about that.

I will say the boot on these is massive, easily bigger than our last 5 series.

5.5 seconds in a car with a mere 168bhp/tonne.... seems pubchy

Very punchy indeed. A prod of the accelerator and its at 30. Minimal throttle input is needed to get it going, love it.

My old Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo was 168bhp/tonne but that was a 6.0 second car and weighing a mere 1,200kg.
My old BMW 330d was 165bhp/tonne and that was 6.7 seconds to 62mph about 1.5tonnes.

The C6 Audi weighs 1.8tonnes so doing 5.5 is bloody good going and can only be down to all wheel drive.

That’s interesting - the 60-100mph is really slow, basically it proves it is the great Quattro giving he very good 0-60time.

14.5 seconds to 100mph whilst getting a 5.6 seconds to 60.

The fiat coupe 20V Turbo was 6.2 seconds to 62mph but then 14.2 seconds to 100mph
The fiat

Not much point in comparing manual FWD with torque converter auto 4WD. You can launch the latter hard!

I think the book figure is 5.9s to 60mph according to Parkers anyway.

It does have 1725kg of weight - considerably heavier than the 535i of the same era. However, its 40-70mph and 50-90mph figures are good enough, in that it will beat most cars. Also, the fiat is 16.1s to 100mph, according to the same website I used. It also says the fiat does 240km/h in 132 seconds, yet the Audi does it in 51.3 seconds, so I think the Audi is not exactly slow after 60.

That does not stop the fiat from sounding very good whilst doing it.

The Fiat Coupe 20V Turno 5 speed is 14.2 seconds - those are Autocar tested times. I have the print out somewhere - sad I kept it all and loads of other stuff as I loved the car.

16.1 seconds sounds like the 16 V turbo

16.1 is for the 5 speed 20V turbo, as according to that website. It all depends on what information source you look at.

Autocar year the Cars correctly and use fratron timing gear and the same testing place for each and every car.

? I was pretty sure all Petrol heads were aware of how accurate Autocar was it is the benchmark of all testing.

I’ll try to dig it out at some point the real full Autocar test for he 20V Turbo from back in 1996/97

Are you saying that the Autocar test of the Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo is BS. Ie big porkie pies?
That’s a bold thing to say on a website owned by a company which in turn owns Autocar.....

You were already proven to be talking rubbish earlier on with your accusation about the 0-60 time so I guess the poster is saying put your drink down, go to bed and stop pissing on this guys thread.

OP, nice car, best of luck with it, don’t let clowns like the above stop you from keeping this thread updated.
