The wife's car. After two years, twenty thousand miles, several one thousand mile in a day, trips across Europe, it still impresses every time I drive it, puts the German "supersaloons" (I've owned a few) firmly into third fourth and fifth place. Quick, comfortable, sure footed, and completely reliable; all it asks for is petrol, servicing, brakes, and tyres..
It's OK having a wife who not only tolerates such toys, but buys them.

Very little goes wrong with petrol engined Jags; absolutely nothing in our case. I have heard of boot loom trouble on early XFs, and supercharger coupling noise on some Rs, but the loom is only about £90, and the coupling about £300, but very much not the norm for the latter to fail. All the potentially expensive bits seem bulletproof with scheduled maintenance.

Mine was unfortunately one of the least reliable cars I’ve ever owned.
It wasn’t so much the R stuff, although my supercharger snout was knackered, but general XF stuff let it down majorly.
Had both front window regs go, both front door locks, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitors... and more stuff can’t wuite remember.
Shame because when it was working right it was awesome.
