So after having a short but fun time with my little clio F1 fill in car I stumbled on another little project I couldn't resist.
This 2007 S65 V12 biturbo
Iv had it a few weeks now and I've just finished opening out the last faults today. Just needs a cosmetic tidy up now

And even dafter question - is that battery under the screen the right size? It looks pitifully small to be cranking a 6L v12. I replaced the battery in the M6 the other week, and that takes an 020 900cca, which is about 15” long, so yours there looks small (unlike everything else about the car). I suppose it could be the secondary ‘comfort’ battery? (My 7-series has this - extra battery for audio & heating, etc).
And even dafter question - is that battery under the screen the right size? It looks pitifully small to be cranking a 6L v12. It does look small but perhaps it has an engine and domestic battery as one of my Mercedes does.

Funny to see an exposed battery in the engine bay in a modern high-end car but I guess there is so much hardware in this car it was the only spare space. Easy to get to at least.
Anyway, enough about the battery. If I recall correctly this engine produces so much torque they use the 5-speed auto gearbox from the 1990's; it's the only one that can handle the torque.

Epic car there OP, I'm a big fan of this model S Class and the 65 is obviously the craziest of the lot. I actually have my eyes on an S350 CDI to replace me E Class at some point. Purely from a comfort and wafting sense.
Saw an S63 in central London the other week and although it had dark wheels on it, it looks superb. Enjoy.

That'll be the battery for the convenience features. If it's anything like my E320/CLS63 there'll be a much larger battery under the boot floor. The battery is just a secondary job. The main one is in the boot and it's the full width of the car near enough.

You can tell the gearbox is an older design it's not as slick as the 7 speed in the newer cars. But all that torque makes up for it.
The equipment levels are frankly mind bending.
You can even move the from seats forward feommtge back if your driver is taking up too much space.

I take it, it has the 5 speed auto? I have this in my E320 and actually it's not a terrible gearbox. Smooth enough and as I understand it, they kept it in use in the likes of the E/CLS55 models as it was a stronger gearbox and handles the additional torque. I have the 7 speed in my CLS63 and my partner in her CLS350, it is smoother but I'll be honest, I don't think the 5 speed detracts from the drive. Plus in an S65, there's plenty of other things to enjoy, by the sounds of it all the gizmos. The box isn't that bad it's just a bit lack luster.
But as for toys it's got everything. I'd be a week listing it all. But the high lights for it's age
