2007 MX5 NC 2.0l from Italy - not so stock
Discussion
Hello everybody!
My name is Matteo and I live in Italy!
My car is a 2007 Mazda MX5 RC (so with rigid roof) 2.0 litre which now I have in my garage since 2015.

My Miata has stayed stock just for a couple of months
Works that I have done are:
- Tein Monosport coilover
- Stage 1 tune to engine (4-1 header, full exhaust, CAI, remap), actual power is 188BHP, this winter I will also do camshaft in order to go over 200BHP
- front & rear RX8 brakes
- front & rear RX8 anti roll bars
- Sparco Sprint seats
- OMP Targa steering wheel
- JR3 17x8 for road use & Enkei EVO IX RS 17x8 with R888R 215/45 for track use (I will pass to 235/40 tyres when I will find some 17x9
wheel at good price
)
- installing in these days are Competition Clutch Stage 2 + 3,8 kg Competition Clutch flywheel
The car is very very fun to drive but also very quick, of course it is a bit slow on a straight (it's a Miata, it does not have an engine ahah) but it is very enjoiable to put behind cars with more BHP.
My final/dream ride is an E92 M3, which sadly now it is out of my pocket because in Italy we have a very high (and stupid) taxation for powerfull car, I am now looking for an Elise S2 (111R or maybe K20 swap), but I have fear that could be a too long step because one of the strong point of a Miata is that it have very reasonable costs, so you can use it without too much problems.
Here there are some videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCffIv3YZGetNM5a7C...
I leave you with some photo of my car over these 3 years of ownership.

Nice NC you got there. I also had a NC 2.0 a while back. Loved the driving position and handling due to the low weight. On stock suspension rolled like a boat, though.
How about a GT86 next?
Yes, with stock suspension it is properly s**t to drive, that's also why all reviews were bad; NC has very good chassis, so with a good coilover it is another machine. How about a GT86 next?
GT86 is a very appealing car (and also very good to drive), but it is too similar (a part from the convertible side) to my actual NC.
If I will never sell it (and like now it is difficult because it is my 1st sports car and I have a bond with it), I would like to change type of car, like a mid engine one.
Thank everybody for the compliments!
I just retired the car from a mate which have an elaboration workshop, mostly Japanese cars.
Usual service, changed all oils (apart from the gearbox, I did it last year) and fixed a rattle from the exhaust.
Ready to go at the end of the month to Autodromo di Modena, where there will be a 2 days of only japanese cars trackday!
I leave you with a picture of this summer, I think all of you might know where I was..

So, what happened in this month and a half? I did some mountain tours with friends, sadly I have changed work so I didn't had so much time to use my miata.
At beginning of June I went to Japanese Cars Meeting, a national italian meeting of only JDM cars.
1st time with R888R tyres, firts I had some understeer because I had the coilover setup on other tyres, but playing with some regolations I eventually find a godd setup and I was very proud to be the fastest MX5 on the track
I also did some drifting!
I also bought a diffuser which I would like to mount before August, when I'm planning to come back at the Ring from August 6th to 10th.
I leave some photos and videos, enjoy!

Wow, it's been a while.
So, actually not so much to tell, did others trackdays
, the most exciting one in Mugello! What a lovely and yet scaring place!
I use the winter breakdown to do some upgrades: coming from UK is a Mazdaspeed front bumper, very rare to find, and I've also ordered new wheels (JR7 replacing JR3) and new pads (Hawk HP+).
I bought a set of RPF1 17x9 for the track use, but sadly they don't leave space for my bigger brakes, so I had to sold them.
Next month I will start again with trackdays and tours, this year highlights will be a tour of the southern France, Ring + Spa, Mugello and I hope I will be able to go to Imola, since now it is very difficult to find the track open for noise problems.
I have to decide what to do with this car; if I will keep it, I think it will receive during next winter a turbo kit in order to develop around 300bhp. I would love to try other cars, Elise and M3 E9X are the chosen one, but here in Italy they cost a lot to buy and to assure, plus maintenance and running cost would be a lot higher, and this is the scary parts since with a Miata almost everything is cheap
I leave you with some pic of these months, enjoy!
