MK7 Golf GTi for the missus

Picked up this tidy little number for the missus last week. 1400 miles on the clock, ex-managers car, almost every single option box ticked and about 5 grand off the price. Took her on a little twisty 25 mile route that I normally take on the bike and I think she's in love.

Replaced her 10 year old A3 Diesel sport line which was getting a bit past its best.

I am on my second one (mine is the aubergine/black) and I love them. They are just really good at everything. I change my car every 6 months and having had 2 in a row, I may try the R next time around.

We tried the R but found it a little too pure for our tastes. Exhaust sounded decent and it sure shifted, but cruising on the motorway the engine noise was going to be a sticking point we knew.

Very nice. I find the mk7 one of the most rounded cars available today. Everything about it... just works. You can tell there is a lot more development that goes into the ergonomics, materials, design and tuning versus something like a Focus. We have both in our household and while the Focus is a good car, the Golf just feels so much more well thought out. I hasten to add I am only in a golf for BIK purposes (PHEV) but have been really won over by it.

We tried out the GTE as well. I liked it, missus hated it. To be fair it felt a bit basic inside. The GTi is much nicer place to be.
