986 Boxster S - Stupid Summer purchase.

A few weeks back I decided to sell the M3. I absolutely loved it, and it was such a mint example. However, it wasnt being used enough and it was a lot of money to have sat there.



So I sold it last Saturday. And on Sunday, I went and got this. So much for not replacing it...

I've had a few convertibles, but never really had one in the Summer. So I figured I'd see if it was all its cracked up to be. And for sub £8k this was the only thing that really attracted me, the only other options being an MX5 (I've had two) or a S2000 (I'm too tall for it). But I'm very glad I chose this camp/hairdresser/estate agent mobile. 77k on it, Sports exhaust, fabulous service history. Had it up on ramps today and it's clearly been garaged most of its life. I've been absolutely ringing its neck all week and it makes a fantastic noise. Not sure what to do with it now I have it, probably stick it on some track days! And of course, do the usual middle aged convertible stuff, like going to the seaside and being scared of contactless payment or whatever. (25 is the new 40, right?)



So yeah, take your shots. I've had all the usual jokes already!

I owned an equivalent age Boxster S about 9 yrs ago both as a weekend toy and at one stag it became my every day car - it was and still is an under-rated car. I never took mine on track, though a short-shift is an easy/cost effective upgrade for the driving experience and uprated pads/fluid for track use. They're good value for money IMO.

Looks great. You have to wring their necks to appreciate them, to be fair. I was the worlds biggest cynic about Porsches generally until a couple of years ago, had 3 Boxsters now! Very happy with the current 987 3.2, kept it far longer than I thought I would, and no real plans to part with it.

What a great car the 986 boxster is. So easy to drive and throw into corners.

Nice motor.

I had a 2003 2.7 last year with 174,000 miles on it, ran like a dream, sold it in winter.

Last month I bought a 2001 Ocean Blue 3.2s with 90k on it, freshly resprayed in it's factory colour etc etc love it, huge difference to the 2.7.

Porsches are my weak spot, and those photographs do the car a lot of justice.
