So last Friday I fulfilled a child hood dream of mine to own a Porsche.

I went down to Ashgood Sport Cars & Classic who are a brilliant Porsche Independent and have an amazing collection of cars.
My little beauty has 55K on the clock, the Sound Package Plus, PCM3 with UMI (iPod) and Wind Deflector.

I've already become a member of the Porsche Club GB who have given me a fantastic welcome and will be featuring on the club stand at Kimbolton Country Fayre on Sunday.

So without further a due her she is.










Having the most amazing time and still can't believe I own one!

I have Zunsport Outer Grilles on the way to protect those condensers don't want an £800 bill due to a rock going through the current grilles!

Looks lovely, well timed with this glorious weather too! Funny you mention the condensers being at risk at the front and not being protected - I've got an old 1998 911 and they can suffer from the exact same issue, Porsche still haven't made any changes there.

Thanks, needs some stone chips filling in and proper wash, polish and wax but she does clean up well

Weather is definitely great, I have only driven it once with the roof up! the rest of the time the roof is down as intended

Apparently they do but only on the GT Cars, so the Boxster Spyder, GT3, GT2 etc all have better Grilles, it's a shame really as they don't offer them as a retrofit. Luckily Zunsport work directly with the Porsche Club GB members to get the Grilles made and the volunteer gets there's for free. I got a discount code through the club so got 20% off so both Grilles only cost £105 I think instead of nearer to £130.

Good job condensers don't have to cost £800. You can get quality ones from around £40 each delivered. Don't be blinkered into getting all your parts and labour from a Porsche main dealer.

That’s true, although I will be using a good independent rather than main dealer. I’m no mechanic so would rather not touch the car myself and get someone who knows what there doing. For £100 it’s peice of mind and grilles look good being black on black.

What are your plans for the car? Summer/weekend toy?

Looks fab! In case you didn't know, you can get the official Porsche certificate if authenticity via Porsche club GB for free. It a certificate which confirms your cars original options list, chassis number etc.

Nice thing to have as part of the paperwork.

Congratulations, I loved my 2.9 Cayman! If you are interested in a bit more exhaust noise, I can thoroughly recommend a modified Carnewal exhaust. Looks standard but adds a bit more Porsche noise without being too much. Probably even better in a boxster with the roof down.

At the moment I'm just going to enjoy it, it's my work car at the moment at I only do 16 miles a day. Come the winter through it will probably get put in my mum's double garage especially when it starts to be constantly wet!

I've joined the Porsche Club GB too so depending on how miles I end up doing with them it could end up being a meet / weekend car but we'll see...

As for Mods, I've now got the Zunsport Grilles which look really nice, I'll be looking to get the paint chips sorted and full detail and probably a ceramic coating too.

Then onto a Sports Exhaust, Have the Calipers Painted Red as well as getting red seat belts and then may get the Sports Design Steering Wheel and Sport/Sport+ Modes retro fitted.

All of which will cost a tidy sum so need to save a bit first

Yeah I saw that in the member pack, when I can next get to either Porsche Silverstone or Porsche Cambridge, I'll pop in and get the forms filled out. Like you say I nice thing to have.

Thanks, yes I have seen the videos of the Carnewal exhaust and it does make it sound a lot better. I know someone who used to work for RPM Technik so I'll probably have a chat with them when the time comes and work out what I should get. The Carnewal sounds nice as it doesn't lose the "Porsche" sound.

So it's not much of a Mod but it's still quite cool.

With the car being a 2011 Model it has an old 30 pin iPod Y Cable and the PCM3 version not having Bluetooth Aux the car doesn't have an easy way to stream with modern phones except using an AUX cable which loses quality.

So reading up on some reviews I read about the Tune2Air 1000 which is a 30pin Ipod Bluetooth Module that plugs into the Y Cable that is used in older UMI (Porsche), MMI (Audi) etc cars. As this module is quite old it's harder to find, however I found that the Product was rebranded to the Bovee 1000. So ordered one for the states it cost about £100 including import charges and shipping which is quite expensive however it is far cheaper than replacing the PCM3 with a modern double din.

The cool thing is that it lets you control the iPod control of you iPhone straight from the PCM3 interface and if you use Spotify, once you have started the playlist you can use the Previous and Next buttons on the PCM3 to restart the Song or Skip to the next and it shows you the track information too.

The last pic is from a DAB Radio App on the phone, I couldn't change the stations without access to the phone but it show track information, however this is down to the App, I will try some other Apps and see if any work better, Like Spotify does.

So done a few things to the Car in last 18 Months

In January I had it Gundo'd which is an exhaust bypass and made it sound like the Carnewall but louder and this was done by DW Performance in Wellingborough

In August Project Boxster Phase 1 happened which entailed the car having a half wrap using the Martini Racing Livery as a base, Alloys Refurbished and Painted Red and Also the Callipers Painted Red

Phase 2 has just been completed by Bee Cool Performance in Kettering which entailed

Lowering the Car 30MM on H&R Lowering Springs
BMC Race Air Filter
IPD Competition Plenum
82mm 997 GT3 Throttle Body
Topgear 200CEL Sports Cats
and then a Bespoke Remap by Bee Cool - They estimate a 3rd Power Increase which would be about 325BHP realistically I think it is probably sitting at about 300BHP based on other cars that have had similar work done.
