Honda CRZ good looker??

I have just purchased a 2011 Honda CRZ. Its good handling fun at lower speeds . They a pretty rare sight. Thoughts?? Work mates say its a ricer lol. I say tasteful mods ok. Its Nice not rice!!!

I like them, they are not drop dead gorgeous but look suitably different to other cars on the road (imo). Yours looks particularly good with those bronze alloys on it.

I had one for 3 years, only changing it in August as I needed something with 5 doors and 4WD. Did about 50k miles in it and it never missed a beat. Only needed the normal servicing, tyres and brakes.

It was fun to chuck around and coming from a 1.2 Fabia with about 60bhp it felt plenty fast. But if the hybrid battery drains and you're left using just the engine until it recharges (done a couple of times on my 25 mile commute) it does feel really slow. Plus getting 400 miles out of £30-£35 of petrol is quite nice.

I like it as a car, but it's certainly no looker. The profile in particular reveals a very badly proportioned mess to my eyes.



The flat gap between bonnet and windscreen designed to disguise the bulk of the front end is laughable. Rear end is much better resolved though, and interior is nice. The wheels on your one do look good too.

I mostly commuting in large town so its pretty good for my needs. The boxster 3.4S I had was overkill.

Nice car. I'm a Honda fan and I like the CR-Z.

I thought about getting one as a second car to go alongside our family CR-V. But secondhand prices are still quite strong, reflecting their rarity. I'll have another look in a few years to see if the prices have softened.

Several tuners in the States have dropped the K20 engine from Integra and Civic Type R into the CR-Z to give a lightweight and decently powerful little coupe, but its a tight fit and all the hybrid gubbins has to be removed. Google "CRZ K20 swap".

Ha ha I would have kept one of my 300 hp+ cars if I wanted that. I have just gone for a spirited drive and my journey commute is still over 40 mpg. Ok you could get more from a diesel but they are dying a death now . I have owned one diesel out of the 24 cars I have had. I enjoying the lower power but a something a bit different appeal of the CRZ.

As an evolution of the CRX it does (kinda) work

It does come off as a bit funny and bulky when compared to a CRX (god's chariot). But. Imo the CRZ is one of those cars that looks considerably better in the flesh than in the pictures.

Shame they didn't make a really hot version of it. Albeit, Jackson Racing did a supercharger kit at some point ( https://jacksonracing.com/jackson-racing-cr-z-supe... /).

Always liked these, was considering one until I heard that they don't much like being parked up and used occasionally.

Seen a couple of k20 powered ones at shows...that's my cup of tea!

I think the revised version in GT form is a pretty cool car.

I know there are K20 transplants, but has anyone put a B18C in a CR-Z ? (my all time favourite sub 2 litre engine),
never found any link to one, not even sure if its doable, the shift linkages alone would be a bit of a puzzle!, plenty
B18'd CRX but cant find any link to a CR-Z with one, even a B16 would be a transformation.

I would say that is entirely why it failed. There wasn't a proper cooking version either as a Hybrid or even just a full R or S type petrol version. I have seen a few of these done out with various Mugen stuff at shows but I don't know much about them. The lack of 'Halo' effect didn't create enough buzz and the people who like cars without a 'buzz' preferred to stick with Prius for the practicality and better economy. Imagine one of these with proportionately detuned NS-X running gear...

Surely the gap is to take the air over the wiper blades so that on intermittent, rain does not ‘weep’ from the resting blades up the windscreen.
