Literally looks like a boat with an outboard and steps.

It's certainly something different.

Awesome!
Like that a lot, is the rear bumper standard on those or an upgrade?

What the fking Nora is going on with that bathing platform hanging off the back?!?!
I love it. I wouldn't want one, but the whole car massive, impractical, unnecessary and surely can't be justified by any rational means. It is therefore, ace. smile

Not a great fan of big American cars...but that looks OK from the side view.....

I would change that rear 'upgrade' back to standard....but that's just IMO.

More pics of the interior etc !

Love it, even with the ridonculous rear end. These old American cars are sensational and this looks to be in time warp condition at first glance.

the platform-mounted tyre on the rear is called a continental kit or a continental tire

they were widely offered by OEMs from the factory -- including for the Ford Edsel

in their heyday (say, the late 1940s to the late 1950s), they were considered a distinguished feature upon the rather Baroque designs of the day; they were not taking the p***

only later did they evolve into a peculiar, somewhat camp, element of the aftermarket scene

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continental_tire

see loads more of them on Google, here:

But you’ve omitted the all-important front which I seem to remember was the car’s downfall in sales’ terms due to it’s, er, entertaining grille wink

some may recall the 1958 Ford Edsel Corsair seen in the film, American Graffiti

driven by Steve's girlfriend, Laurie, and wearing a two-toned colour scheme popular at the time

Amazing car. The rear end is strange and the grill looks like a vagina. I’m currently car hunting and would love that.

Even if it was for lonely nights in the garage. Top marks sir.

Going back 30 years or so I picked up a copy of one of the classic magazines which had a feature on Edsel. I’ve had a thing for them ever since. This is fantastic. Love it, love it, love it, and looking forward to reading more.
