So after driving around in an Audi diesel for two years I thought I would jump into something with a bit more poke. Maybe not the best time of year to buy my first rwd car with a decent amount of power but I have loved it so far.
I have been hankering after an e46 M3 for years and decided that this would be a good compromise as I could use it daily and not need a run around for the day to day duties. Its by far the fastest car I have owned and really pulls through the gears like nothing I have experienced.
Collection day - I kept options to a minimum and got mineral grey with black interior, harman kardon, heated seats,ZF 8 Speed and parking sensors. Keen to keep it under the 40k spec limit for tax ( I got quite a big discount but they don't consider that in the tax bracket )
Had a great experience with Worthing BMW who I actually used instead of my local dealer. They managed to get me the car just before a trip to Scotland, I picked up the car up at 6 in the evening and then drove to Scotland immediately the next morning, stopping off in the lake district for a night. Car was effortless on the motorway and I ran it in on the way up.
Once I got it up to Scotland I went on a couple spirited drives with my cousin as he took me on some highland scenic roads. The car picks up speed at an alarming rate and makes a great noise. Hoping to take it to the evo triangle next year, have also bought some bmw black grills but debating whether or not to put them on the car.
I had an Audi A3 before, people seem to say that Audi interiors are better but I would disagree, the quality feels much better in the bmw.
Out of the options at this price bracket I am really pleased with my decision. Cant imagine needing anything more anytime soon.

Great cars and my 1er is now a year and a half old and I still haven't found anything I'd want to replace it with. My only real investment for it was a set of winter tyres so that it easily coped with the ice and snow of last winter - the standard fit Michelins are not brilliant in anything but sunny dry weather.

I can't imagine wanting anything more, I considered an lightly used m2 but this blends in so much better and is about as fast in a straight line. Chris

When I was waiting for the car on order I bought some black grilles and mineral grey mirror caps ( as wasn't keen on the silver ones ). Haven't put them on yet and unsure if I actually will, both are growing on me as standard.
