M4 Competition
Discussion
Having enjoyed a great 2 years in my 440i Convertible, my head was turned following a chance conversation with a friend who is also a BMW saleslady. A couple of beers one night, and a few minutes popping my details in to CarWow resulted in a great offer from a dealership 20 miles down the road. I spoke with the dealership, added a few options and agreed a heavily discounted price - and this coupled with 0% finance, meant it was almost a no-brainer.
And here we have it - an M4 Competition DSG in Mineral Grey and Sakhir orange interior. The Competition pack adds a few bits and bobs over a standard M4, including CFRP carbon fibre roof, a power boost to 450 bhp, 20inch light alloy wheels, Competition spec active diff and suspension, better stereo and lightweight seats. Oh, and an M stripe in the seat belts.
Which is where I'll start with the photos. The lightweight seats and fancy seat belt. That M4 badge in the seat back also illuminates when the lights are on.

I've not yet driven it in any real anger - I won't do that until after it's had its 1200 mile running in check - but there's certainly enough on tap to already know it's got a serious, very serious, turn of speed. It's hugely configurable, so suspension, engine, DSG, etc can all be set as desired. Sport Plus makes everything very tight, and makes the engine make some ludicrous noises. Handling and steering are phenomenal, and the brakes are very reassuring. Delicacy on the throttle in the wet is very much required!
Side view with those 666 M light alloy star spoke wheels.

Pick up at the dealer late on Friday afternoon.

The interior - standard spec is pretty generous, so nothing too significant added here.

Looking forward to having some fun when it's fully run in!

Could you post a picture of the M4 badge lit up in the seats?, I love minor touches like that
Here we go - the flash on the 'phone means it doesn't look as illuminated as it is in reality - they light up when you open the car, then go off once engine is on for some reason.
Very comfortable seats, I guess it's those holes that make them 'light weight'!
ETA - just noticed you can see the illumination far better on the passenger seat in the background.

Sounds like a good buy, M3 M4 are fantastic cars. I have Sakhir leather, looks great.
Carbon fibre roof is standard on the M4 and M3 F80/F82 generations, it’s not an extra for the Comp Pack. Same with the stereo, it’s an option to have Harrmon Kardon on all M4 M3’s.
You're absolutely right about the roof, my mistake! The Competition has the Advanced stereo as standard, which I'm pretty sure the standard car doesn't. It's good, albeit not quite as good as the HK was in my 440i, but I'm no music/sound geek, so no issue for me! Love the current M3 / M4, great choice! Just be careful though

TX.
I've seen that in various Youtube bad driving compilations - not really sure how that could be achieved on a dry and straight road! I'm being very circumspect with the application of power, especially since I live in the sticks in a very leafy area - wet leaves and wet roads make for an interesting driving experience at times.

If I remember correctly, the owner took to the internet shortly after that video got spread around and blamed it on there being a 0.5psi difference in the rear tire pressures.
In reality it was probably him turning all the nannies off and booting it...Cracking spec by the way, I love the competition pack wheels- might just be me but there's shades of the old BBS's found on the early M-cars in them.
Nope it was a factory order, there's 0% on all 4s currently, including M4, and a dealer contribution too. I started with CarWow and worked from there. This dealer (Stephen James, Enfield) was cheaper than any others in a 40-mile radius by quite some way, I'm going to guess they were close to doing their M allocated sales numbers and needed sales to clear the volume threshold. I got a good offer on the trade in too, so it all added up.
i took it over 4 years, as I always do - I'm typically bored somewhere between 2 and 3 years, and that always seem to work financially if I chop them in at that point.
