So, Mrs JJ's faithful E46 320 touring started to look and feel a bit knackered after 5 years of lugging kids and dogs around. The decision was made in October to look for a replacement and I went on a campaign for all sorts from W123's (really miss our W124) through to RS4's. However, I've always had a hankering for an Alpina touring and given the 2 above it seemed the sensible middle ground! Prices for the early single turbo ones seem very reasonable at the moment and this was the initial pull. However, when I started looking they all seemed to be 130K + with 5+ owners. I don't mind high mileage cars (my Saab Turbo has done 260k and last W124 had done 190k) but the number of owners seemed to turn me off. So I upped the budget to a bi-turbo, same thing again, high mileage and owners. I then stumbled across this one which had done 56k but had some holes in the service history so hadn't flown out of the door. I did some digging on Alpina forums and decided to take a punt. I'm very pleased with it, few chips out of the pinstriping but otherwise very clean. Performance is not blistering but then its for carrying around kids and dog anyway and I have plenty of other toys for having fun. However, I think it looks cracking and I'm loving it. A great addition to the family and fleet.
