Lotus esprit JPS world champion commemorative 1979
Discussion
I have No 094. first registered in May 79.
It's the 95th one out of a 100 domesic built ones. About 70 were built for USA and the rest of the world, Lotus records were terrible in the 1970's so it may be a few more or less.
Not sure how many are left.
For me born in 1965 it was an iconic car for a 13/14 year old at the time. I still think it looks pretty cool for 1979.
One thing which still strikes me is the height of the car 43", under 1.1m. tiny.
The car was purchased by the previous owner in 2015 after 15 years in storage. I was lucky enough to buy it after a full nut and bolt restoration in December, never been on the road since, come spring i'll put it back in service. The resoration was a quality one, reusing all original parts where possible, original chassis and engine numbers confirm this and a photo restoration history.
Chassis wise and mechanically it's fantastic, concours possibly. Bodywork is excellent A1, after a full body off respray but still needs attention in places. Interior is original, worn but good.
My next few months will be working on the body and interior to improve it sympathetically.

Beautiful car and sooo cool. Is the interior a standard Esprit or does it have any special edition features?
It's sort of standard, except the cloth and leather was exclusive to the JPS models, retrimming is difficult as the material does not exist anymore, you can get close but not spot on, luckily the fabric is in very good condition. The steering wheel is 3 spoke rather than the standard 2 and has Mario Andretti's signature and there is a commerative plaque in the centre consol. The JPS was the only car with the interior gold trim

This is such an iconic car and obviously James Bond's white esprit. I had jps esprit corgi car. Loved playing with all 70 corgi cars but this was one of my favourites.
Enjoy

Hope to see it at a Sunday Service at some point!
Any idea when the next one is, silverstone is not too far away.Need to have a few local runs first, as I said it's never been on the road since restoration, even starting it up and running it every week has shown a few water leaks (just needs clips tightening).
I need to get a few miles under it's belt before I'm brave enough to take it on a reasonable run.
