I've not had much luck with cars at all.
The Ford Mondeo ST TDCI was costing with break downs. £450 spent in January for its MOT, £260 on tyres and a alloy repair (I know tyres are wear and tear). And last week the power steering pump decided it would break. £300ish for that.
Decided I wanted something newer. I looked at an Insginia, which I liked but it felt huge and was looking for a auto. Price was £17.5k as well (but 0% interest).
Test drove a new (four miles on the clock) VW Golf TDI Match 2 litre DSG and loved it. But to expensive.
However, found a second hand 64 plate one for sale a hanur away.
£12k, 18,000 miles, loads of extras. Sunroof, heated seats, sat nav (never had a car with built in sat nav!).
Popped up, quick drive and signed on the dotted line.
Drive back was good. Comfy, economical (Mondeo got 40MPG on a run lately). £30 tax is good as well!
Got £600 for my Mondeo as well with the broken power steering pump which I was happy with.

Can I recommend a nice hard polish over the top of your auto glym? Or Bilt hamber double speed wax
I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to cleaning my car...plus I don't have access to a hose
. Normally take it to the local hand wash place that do a decent job. Might think differently now ive not got a shed! Nice! I had a leon with the same sunroof and it’s the single thing I miss most in my A3, I loved it so much I got my sister to get one in her Ibiza, so nice on a sunny day, and every other day it lets so much light into the cabin.
The adaptive cruise is great, have you had any problems? Mine used to give up in wet weather, and every single time I drove it though port talbot on the M4, which is odd,

What possessed the original owner to buy a diesel to do 3.5k a year in?
I think it may have been a motorbility car. Been serviced on the dot when needed by VW. Would explain the low mileage. What is a little worrying is in the manual there is a post it note that says...
How to fill up windscreen wash and ok to use generic brand.
Ok sensible question...next is.
Should we ignore engine oil, coolant, brake fluid levels until service. Same as tyre pressures.
At least they serviced it if they weren't going to bother checking levels / tyre pressures.

No problems with it yet, but only got it today. Although have done 200 miles in it. Not used it in the rain yet. To be fair i don't have much use for it and rarely use cruise control. But its great for motorways. The adaptive cruise is great, have you had any problems? Mine used to give up in wet weather, and every single time I drove it though port talbot on the M4, which is odd,

Nice. I rented a new Mark 6 when they came out in 2009, a black GT TDI iirc, 6 speed manual, about 140 bhp. I thought at the time it was the perfect daily car, did everything very well and nothing badly.
It suits me perfectly. I've always enjoyed bigger cars. Two BMW 5 series, a touring 3 series, Audi A4 estate (i think it was a A4, only a stop gap). Ignore my Corsa...And the Mondeo.
This however does everything i need easily. Will lug my work kit around easily. Comfy for long trips.
I was having doubts about getting a VW because how much are you paying for the name? A mate was looking at a Transporter and ended up with a Transit as it was much better value.
I do need some car mats however!
1500 miles in three weeks and its going well. Had to replace the battery in the key fob, well came up with a warning on the dash twice and then nothing. But for the sake of £1.50 for a new battery it didn't matter.
Tip run without a problem. Loads of room with the back seats down.
Only thing I don't like...the colour. It shows up dirt so easily!
