Halving the Power

Today I changed from a 2015 Focus ST3 to a 2019 Focus Vignale 125.

Feels really nice to drive and I think Ford have done a fantastic job with the ride and handling. Far too many toys to mention. Not much else to say, really. It's really quiet, very comfy and has a ridiculous amount of space in the rear compared to the mk3.

I'm not a Ford guy at all, but I do rather like that detailing on the front grill, bit of a departure from their usual fare.

Fair play on the toys front, pretty much all you could want and then some. I do like that grille.

I had a focus titanium hire car recently with that engine, really enjoyed it, in fact was a bit disappointed how noisy my 520d was in comparison when I got back home.

I’d seriously consider one next time round

Nice - I really like the looks of the new focus although seems that is an unpopular opinion
How are you finding the power drop though? Did you have the diesel or petrol ST before? Assuming petrol from my basic maths skills

I don't do diesel

The power do was intended as all I was using the car for was driving to work, driving home and sometimes going to Tesco. It's made zero difference to my journey times, really.

I still have the bikes for fun. In fact, I have three vehicles, all with 1,000cc engines: one with 2 cylinders, one with 3 cylinders and one with 4 cylinders

The rear legroom is really impressive. Driver's seat setup for me at 5'11"

But I stopped buying Fords when they stopped making them with RWD!

Well specced isn't something that was associated with Ford in the 70's to the late 80's

Not so long ago you bought a Ford you got a car with an engine, gearbox, and not much else.

I thought my Sierra xr4x4's weren't too bad spec wise and I loved the spec on my Mondeo V6 Ghia X(that was the 90's though).

I recall the Granada 2.8 Ghia X Executive being pretty opulent in the 80's though...well it was to me when I sat/had a ride in one. Lower end Ford's were always bare bone spec for sure though.

Hah, it's quite funny when you think back. About 10 years ago when I was doing bangernomics, I bought a 97/R Mondeo Titanium X 2.0 Auto for £500 and it's jam-packed, full-loaded spec was...

• Leather
• Climate control
• CD autochanger
• Cruise control

...and that's about it.

That was a great car

How much of that extra space is due to the front seats? I had a mk3 ST and the Recaros were pretty big so ate up room compared to ‘normal’ seats in the cooking models.

I fancy a mk4 ST in a couple of years. If they have more cabin space this’ll help as my kids get older.

Its due to the longer wheelbase. The seats in my previous mk3 ST and the seats in this really aren't too difference in size.

Well set up FWD is better to drive than poorly set up RWD

I had a mk3 Focus (not an ST) and thought rear legroom was really bad, good news it has improved.

Does the Vignale have the independent rear suspension, or the beam setup?

Lovely car OP, the new Focus is really growing on me.
