Pronounced 'POW' apparently.

Anyway, as some may remember, my little Japanese Honda pickup ended its life in a rather unfortunate way...

So, what to do when you like small, quirky, Japanese things and the only chance of another Acty would be to import and get modding again?

You keep a look out for something small, Japanese and quirky already in the UK!

So here it is (being collected tomorrow) the Nissan Pao. Built by all accounts because Japan got the hump with how well the British Mini was selling, so they did something for themselves...

Apparently It has a blistering 50 (ish) BHP 1.0l engine and a three speed auto box and is pretty much a K10 Micra underneath.

Top speed will at least be better than the Acty, although may take a while to get there!

Will report back with just how quirky it is later...

Auto?! Will ruin any “performance”...apart from that, kind of quirky looking.

I remember really liking these when they came out but was put off by the gearbox. Still, I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to hearing all about it.

I really wish you hadn't posted the picture of the burnt out Honda again - it's the automotive equivalent of a dead puppy or a drowned kitten or something.

Love the Pao, it's like an Austin 1100, but cool.

Awesome. I’ve driven a Suzuki Mighty Boy quite a bit when I was still in Oz, and it’s a car I’d love to own myself as a quirky city runabout. As has been mentioned, the auto would put me off but the Pao ticks all other boxes.

I imagine if you found a k11 micra in half decent condition a manual gearbox swap could be done in a weekend?

Can't imagine it's beyond the wit of man.

Your Honda mini pickup looked amazing.
Sorry to hear of its demise.

Never heard of the Nissan Pao, I love how strange the Japanese are.
The Nissan Pao looks fabulous.

Love these! I've had a couple pass through my hands, I sold one to a friend in Vienna and drove it out to him laugh

From memory the Nissan 1.4 or 1.5 petrol from the same era Sunny fits in quite nicely. Does the radio still work when you pull it out? From memory they're meant to so you can listen to your favourite Japanese radio station whilst having a picnic biggrin
