£400 JDM Legend Track/Daily *Cough Cough*

Hello Guys & Girls,
Honestly don't know why I bought it, horrendously untunable engine, boaty handling and pretty sure a old minicab driver had one and tried to touch my knee when I was a kid.
However it is pure genius, absolute brilliance with a touch of 90s Japanese styling and flare. It is the famous Mitsubishi Space Wagon!!!! I am looking to build a reliable kanjo track style bus that can conquer snetterdon and also pick up the new sofa.
After a haggle and exchanging £400 of real money, I received the 2 sets of keys and bag full of full service history and 8 brand new wiper blades to the doggy smelling beast, with 14psi in the tyres, cobwebs everywhere and Werther's originals and strangely make up littered in the car I drove it home.
Once cleaned I was pleasantly surprised mechanically it seemed sound, no leaks, fresh air filter and all the fluids seemed pretty good! It then became apparent that after its first outing the brakes were clearly warped at the front and the flexipipe had disintegrated and £80 had to be spent to fix it as it sounded and smelled horendous, Also after 3 cleans it is relatively nice inside and out (pictures to be added tommorow) I colour coded the lights and added a non original sticker much to the dismay of James may.
Anyway the plans for the car in the immediate future are:
Discs and Pads
MR2 Turbo Backbox
Wooden Splitter (because racebus)
Roof diffusers (stick on badboys)
Better wheels and tyres as the stock ones are tiny.
Stage one polish and more stickers (hide the blemishes)
Sort surface rust on arches
Sadly if you are still reading, one you need help and a life, two I will keep updating as things are done so please feel free to ask why, are you stupid etc.

It's not a bloody cam, or a 1998 era superchip. Its detergent and a bit of elbow grease!

Hehehe just threw that in there and I have been found out already, it should be thankful it got cleaned (Well actually I was thankful as it smelled terrible). Any sort of hard polishing might disintegrate the bus! Nicely spotted.Stage 1 clean?

Yeah it is quite useful as most places do not have specific spacewagon sections lol. I maybe wrong and I have to do some research but apparently some Volvo lowering springs would work on it. Engine plans are scarce as there really isn't any tuning options, no point trying to do a induction kit as the standard air box and cold air feed is really good, im just going to Dremel all the fins out inside as it is quite restrictive and add a second cold air feed in place of the resonator. It is a relatively torquey engine and pulls well so will make for laughs on track.Your lucky that most Mitsubishi parts of that era can be swapped and changed between models, even some Volvo's have the jap parts.

Awesome! What engine is in it? There might be a slim chance of tuning parts such as a manifold and other parts that can be sourced for other Mitsubishi cars that use the same engine.
There was a coilover suspension kit for the Volvo S40 V40 that was available for peanuts on eBay. You must check the strut bolt holes line up, a trip to your local scrap yard can be useful purely for measurements and research of parts.
Aim to lower your centre of gravity. Make the engine breath better through the exhaust manifold and system (decat will help) and look for some larger brakes (Mitsubishi Fto mivec or outlander of the same year but will need the discs drilling out to 4 stud) and you'll be onto a winner.

It has the 2.4 GDI which I'm led to believe really has nothing that can be done to it. There isn't alot of support either even in the galant community as it's the least favoured engine. The car is getting a decat when the exhaust is fitted and ideally a larger brake set up would be ideal. Would the outlander not be 5 stud like the spacewagon?
