Ok, so it's not at home with me just yet, but it's paid for, so soon will be and I thought I would share anyway.

So, my fondness for early Japanese tin continues, only this time, something a little more interesting is lurking under the bonnet
because this one is sporting a Saab B204 turbo engine conversion with numerous fancy bits accompanying it.

It has only had 1 previous owner, too.

I'll probably change the wheels in time and I'm not sure of the BHP output, but it's using a regular Garrett T25 with uprated pump, custom map and exhaust upgrade etc but then even if the numbers are not huge, I still think it's going to be a bit 'lively' in such a shell.

I will report back when it lands.

A couple of quick pics for now..

Needs smaller wheels, and tyres that fit them. If given such, very cool indeed!

Crikey, I'm surprised anything wearing a Datsun badge isn't rust contained in a teapot by now.

What about tracking it down and pinching it?

Looks really nice, OP, but agree on the wheels. Something smaller and period correct (and not reps) would be cool.

Introduced in late 1981 (at the Tokyo Motor Show), the B11s were the first front-wheel-drive Sunnys, predating by a year and a half the switch to front-wheel drive by their main Toyota Corolla rival

Ahh OK. I was thinking an alternative to the AE86 for a moment.

Ditch gash rims + slight lowering + steel rims/sensible profile tyres = cool motor

Looks awesome! Shame it hasn't got a nissan engine in though, would be fantastic with an RB26.

OK, an SR20 I can see working, but how the hell would you fit an RB engine in one?

Admittedly an SR20 would be a lot more practical/cheaper.

Got to be honest I didn't know these Sunnys existed in coupe form, not sure i've ever seen one IRL.

I remember my old man buying a W reg one of these at a couple of years old. He didn't keep it long though as his insurance tripled from a 1.6 Capri just because it was Japanese. It looked cool, went ok (even in standard fettle) and was pretty uncommon, even in its heyday. Nice car.

A W reg would have been the previous RWD car I think. they were nice in their day too - My old man had a T reg one (140Y Coupe)
