New Suzuki Jimny down on the farm
Discussion
Firstly, I am glad that there is interest in my car - there seems to be quite a buzz about these things that's a bit overwhelming! You are absolutely right (@ChocolateFrog) this car is very much a long-term prospect. I plan to keep it for fifteen years all being well so I got my head round the £15 thousand and something list price (no discounting) by writing it off over fifteen years. Never before have I bought a car with fewer than 100k miles on the clock so being new this is quite a thing.
I must mention that this car has quite an act to follow in the form of my last winter car - a '04 Suzuki Ignis Sport. That was an astonishing little thing in so many ways so I am unlikely to get too drunk on Jimny ownership too quickly. I thought the best thing to do when I got the car home on a dry day was to immediately get it up on the jacks and waste six cans of Bilt-Hamber Dynaxe S-50! I had a load left over from messing about with my old Merc last year. I wasn't particularly concerned about rusty Suzukis given the good experience with my Ignis but it seemed good to get off on the right foot especially as this will be used in all weather and see a bit of (temporary) mud. I don't imagine that I did the ultimate job but it was quite satisfying all the same (though it took a hell of a long time to dry).
Practicality-wise it isn't as capacious inside as the Ignis. I promise that I could stack three full-size pallets in the back of that thing with the back seats down. I can't do that quite in the Jimny but like the Ignis a flat floor can be achieved and the boxy shape means that you can get a builders bag in there plus some tools or a dog. However the trump cards over the Ignis are ground clearance and more compliant tyres/suspension when off the road. Oh, and 4WD!
I do love the interior and the grown-up dashboard - it all feels more solid than the Ignis. One peculiarity that I haven't got to the bottom of yet is that when I take-off in the morning it sounds for the first couple of minutes that someone is taking a pee behind the dash. Heater matrix??
I'll write a bit more later about driving the Jimny and answer a couple more of your questions..

Our Jimny does this but only after its been raining; it’s the water draining from the roof channels in our case.We are nearly at 12k miles and have loved every minute of it. I’ve never owned a car that has had so many random strangers come up to complement it!
