After not having the RS3 for very long, I decided it was time for a change.. At stage 2, whilst stupidly fast in a straight line, I haven’t found it very involving in the corners which is a shame. I’ve had a hankering for a manual box for the last couple of cars I’ve had.
I wanted something as nimble, Some research led me to the BMW M2, manual box, rear wheel drive, and a lovely straight 6 up front. I thought the front arches were larger on the Audi, but the M2, they look fantastic flared, and has great road presence. I found one at a local VW dealership, in the launch Long beach Blue which I wanted, manual box, and only 12500 miles from new, the previous owner las left it with a private plate on as well which is a bonus.
The salesman took me on some great roads around Hereford, where he said not to hold back, they really do go as well as the press say, great feeling through the steering wheel for an electric system, and sounds fantastic (even if it’s not all real in the cabin..) I’m very much looking forward to collecting next Tuesday.

Looks fantastic, love the colour too. I wonder how it compares to my E90, any experience of both?
I've had both (manual LCI M2, DCT LCI E90 M3)M2 feels more nimble (although it's all relative, it's still heavy and feels fairly so) and feels quicker in-gear, but that's really only due to the higher torque of the M2 low-down. The farts and burbles of the M2's exhaust get a bit annoying to be honest.
The S65 engine needs thraping more but feels more special, but the M3 needs to be driven like a bit of a plonker to "come alive", so to speak.
Tough call between the two. I prefer the M3's NA delivery in all honesty, but the M2 is more interesting to drive more of the time. Saying that, I sold the M2 for an MX5 as the M2 wasn't enough fun as a second car, so it's probably no use asking me.

Is that a bog standard straight out the showroom modern MX5 - what are they like?
MX5 30AE, brand new September just gone. I had OEM Mazda Eibach lowering springs fitted, spacers, and a proper fast road alignment. It's an absolute hoot. Far less power obviously (181bhp), but weighs about half a tonne less - and feels it.Sorry for the derail, OP. Congrats on the new car, I'm sure you'll love it. I may have sold mine for something else but I did enjoy my time with it. Best colour and gearbox you've got there, too. Enjoy!
