My car history
Discussion
As is usually the case, I am a long time lurker on here who has had a strong interest in cars from an early age & spent many, many hours reading through & admiring other users car projects & car histories. So here we are now with me finally pulling my finger out to share my own 20 year car history for anyone who may be interested?
My 1st car, which is where my motoring journey started. Nissan Micra Collette, 1.0l, one of my favourite cars that i've owned. Cheap to run, reliable strangely & passed it onto my brother for his 1st car.

Next up a Mk6 Escort Gti with uprated suspension, brakes, exhaust, induction kit, wheels etc. I was only 21 at the time so insurance was sky high but i didn't care. Had this for about 4 years in total.

At the same time as the Escort i owned this Escort RS Turbo. Owned it for the next 13years, spent far too much money on it to the point where it never got driven as it was too clean. It had an uprated engine, big brakes, suspension, exhaust, intercooler etc etc. I only managed less than 1000miles in my ownership. Eventually & very stupidly i sold it back to the lad i bought it off. Still massively regret selling this car even now 3 years later. I have 1st refusal if it ever comes up for sale however!!!

Needing to get sensible the Gti was sold & i bought this little Diesel Clio. Did me proud in the 3 years that i owned it, racked the miles up & never missed a beat.

Wanting something bigger & more exciting lead me to buying this next. An Octavia Vrs 170bhp Diesel. 3 years old, owned for 4 years. Great car for just about everything. Plenty of performance, ultra reliable & immensely practical.

Randomly got offered one of these for peanuts (£150) & fancied a change from the Octavia. Only owned it for couple of months but sold it for £300.

Needing a car to fill the gap left by the ST170. I went for one of these. Owned it for just over a year. Great, great car. Sensible money to buy, love to be driven hard. Every drive is enjoyable with just the right amount of useable power. Would have one of these again in a heartbeat.

Getting to the age now where ive got 2 young kids a wife so i fancied something nice, went and got this. Brand new, every extra, top spec, fantastic car. Only thing was the wife didn't like it for some reason so it only lasted 18 months.

Which now brings us to the present day & where the fleet gets a lot bigger & diverse. The replacement for the Mercedes was something at the other end of the car ownership spectrum. A sensible, but great family car that is a 2.0l Diesel Skoda Kodiaq. Does exactly what it says on the tin, has 7 seats, immense practicality & keeps the wife happy.

I decide to treat myself to a car that i grew up watching on TV & hoped to one day own. Stumbled across this very clean Impreza which ive had for 2 years now. Really needs some suspension as it sits far too high. But its got the usual mods, Exhaust, been Re-mapped etc. Drives lovely, sounds like it should & puts a smile on my face which is what its all about.

Wanting something to store in my garage & being a Ford Nut i finally found this for sale locally to me. Its a Mk6 Escort RS2000. Really clean, low owners, no rot with an immaculate interior oh & in the perfect colour for me too. This is one car that isn't going anywhere. Its not the quickest car in the world but having grown up around 90's fast fords it ticks all the boxes for me.

Being easily tempted by the idea of a Track Day toy by my brother. We ended up getting this Fiesta ST150 for really good money with the intention of turning it into a cheap, carefree track toy to use as and when we please. To this end its now got coilovers, Focus RS front Discs & Calipers, Full exhaust system, Rear wheel spacers, induction kit & PAS Relocation kit fitted.

And lastly we come to my E55 AMG Mercedes. A car that i don't really need but want equally as much. Its one of those cars which ive wanted to tick off that bucket list for a while. This came up at the right price, is a 1 owner from new car in exceptional condition with every extra going, it cost £72,000 new with receipts for absolutely everything including a bill for £2000 to have the speed limiter removed. Its sits on lovely 19" optional AMG alloys with the original 18's stored in the garage with winter tyres on. The performance is something else with some serious shove at silly speeds if you are brave enough.

Cheers

I try these days to get the kids involved as much as I can with the cars. They love coming along to shows, even helping to clean them.

Going forward I think the E55 AMG might have to go soon. With the current fleet being the Impreza, Kodiaq, ST150, RS2000 & the E55 it just doesn’t get driven very much. It’s a shame to see it just sitting on the drive. That said, it only takes one drive to realise what a car it is & I change my mind.

Thanks for the positive comments. You are never sure what people’s opinions are on certain cars. Not that that influences me in any way. I just own cars I want to drive & have.
Agree with your comment about potentially scary repair bills with the E55. They can get quite big if you are unlucky. So far I’ve had nothing thankfully. It’s only done 64k miles from New with an impeccable full service history, with all parts fitted when necessary at Mercedes.
A 911 is definitely on my list of cars to won at some point!

Nice fleet. The Impreza looks lovely - the days of these being chav wagons are gone and ones like yours are lovely - lightly modified but no stupid body kit or lairy parts.
The E55 is a great car but has the potential for huge bills. I’d sell it now you’ve had fun with it and get something else but not sure what you’d replace it with (sensible thing would be to put the money towards maintaining the rest of the fleet but us car guys are not sensible...).
Thanks for sharing and enjoy the them.

Some wicked cars in there! Love the E55 and especially the EP3, currently have one myself after also upgrading from an ST170! Can't see myself getting rid of it any time soon, they aren't rapid by todays standards but with a few choice mods they are an absolute blast, like you said, every drive is a fun occasion!
