2009 Renault Megane MK3 1.5DCI
Discussion
Back again with another readers ride thread. we was running a old 2003 Vauxhall zafira as a third car tip runs, house renovation, spare car whilst others repaired etc.... was offered this megane. suspected faults were blown turbo, busted window reg & car had run out of mot.
model is a 1.5dci expression
56k miles
106bhp
6 speed
ive had it for a few months now.
suspected blown turbo- when I got this car it was down on power, smoking under heavy acceleration, poor economy & failed mot smoke test. ran a smoke test on the pipework and as expected boost pipe was hanging on for dear life. the end of the pipe was ripped. Renault wanted £150 plus for the pipe so trimmed it back and tightened the clamp back up
window reg not working- the window would go down but at a funny angle. internet suggested a small plastic clip would be worn. stripped down door to investigate and found window reg had bent very slightly forcing the ball joint out of the clip. straightened the reg and now window works as intended.
car flew through the mot & added bonus was a full service history in the glovebox.
picture of the car nothing special has a few marks & scuffs as to be expected

ive bought a new door check strap & rear reflectors due to wear & damage
new dash bulbs as heater bulb is temperamental
service kit air, oil, pollen & fuel
resealed centre brake light as boot had a water leak
ive covered over 1k miles now in it and apart from needing the wheels re balancing it rides very well. the 1.5dci has surprised me quite a bit & I find myself driving it more & more often. torque is good across the rev range, plenty of shove when requested for overtaking on motorway etc.... engine is a little agricultural & gruff. gaining more and more confidence in it.
we had agreed to trade it in against a new car for the missus but the deal fell through so it stays for a while yet.
