W124 Mercedes 300CE-24, my brothers, and therefor my project
Discussion
So for a hat trick of ongoing readers cars threads, my brother bought this 300CE on a whim from eBay, with little or no knowledge of the car or how to fix its issues. And as he's a mechanical dunce its obviously down to me to do the work on it.
Ill no doubt only get paid in McDonald's, or tea or maybe beer if I'm lucky....
300CE-24, 5 speed auto (5th doesn't engage, thats the headline fault) almost a full Merc dealer history.
The car has been off the road for a few years but dry stored, overall its in great condition, straight good paint, complete interior but needs a couple of bits of trim, and no rust. Anywhere. Probably because of the sheer amount of oil leaks lol. Engine is sweet bar a noisy tensioner, but does have a running issue which I'll get onto later. Preliminary inspections revealed a blown rear shock, one rear wheel was as a very unnatural but other than that, fundamentally it was a good car
Plans - sus out the 5th gear issue, replace shocks and suspension arms, MOT.

Now onto the underside

Looks like thats the cause of the wonky wheel. Thats the inboard end of the upper camber arm, absolutely no idea how it could have happened

Now onto the engine, if anyone with KJet experience could watch the vid and comment, what could cause this? Its clearly cold start related as the idle drops off suddenly, when its warm, idles at 700rpm, sweet as a nut

I had one of these 10yrs ago. Slightly darker grey exterior and cream leather interior. I quite like the paint on that car but not the dark leather.
Mine was a bit of a banger in the end, but still such a nice thing to cruise around in with a good turn of speed on the motorway.
Get some amber indicators back on it!
