A thread to document various hire cars, of which there are many.
Had a 3 cylinder Golf last week, it was a bit of surprise. Manual, poverty spec etc. I'm thinking the engine is the same one as the new Audi 3.0, it sounds like the ginger cousin of a 911 and revs and revs. The thing is, you don't go that fast, so you can really wring it's neck, most of the time. Grip on winter tyres was a bit wooden, but it was pretty decent overall. The package was far better than the older petrol Golfs to be honest, oh, and it refused to drink fuel. Decent touchscreen, lack of heated seats was the only blot.
I'm not sure if I preferred it to the Audi with the same engine, manual box was more fun for sure.
Worth a drive.
