Just had a look at how many RB5s are left out of the original 444 build, only 126 at the end of last year and most of them are on SORN. I still use mine every day what ever the weather and do classic car shows in the summer months as well. Last July I had the chance to take part in the classic Oakamoor hill climb in the staffordshire moorlands, great day out, four runs up the hill each and just over 100 classics of all ages being used. Great fun.

Yeah. Was a charity event and not an official Motorsport event although there were Motorsport officials there, you could drive as fast as you wanted within the speed limit. It was a mile section of uphill , twisty and bumpy country road, quite challenging for some of the really old cars. All money made went to a Staffordshire youth organization. Good day.

We had #183 for a long time and around 100k miles. We sold when the Springer Spaniel arrived for an Audi A6 estate.

My wife had never forgiven me for this and I've tried to track the car down to buy it back a couple of times.

Unfortunately I believe that the car was part of a bitter split between a guy and his wife/partner and it ended up Sorn in her garage for years without allowing him access despite a court order. That's the way he told me it was anyhow.

I'd still love it back or at least another bit that's getting a bit more difficult by the day sadly!

Sad story how your RB5 ended up. You do see the odd one for sale on eBay from time to time and the prices have started to rise on them now with being so rare. I've thought about buying another car, but I've become so used to my RB5 number 90, I know if I sell it I will regret it, there addictive.
