So the other day i purchased a near rust free 205 1.9 it hasn't been run in a number if years, was missing the key, covered in dust etc. Ive put oil down the bores and turned it over by hand , all smooth lots of compression. Im going to give it a major service, oil change, sump off , clean oil pump, new plugs, rebuild carb, change gearbox oil etc etc. The car was owned by a local race engine company has has been modified. It has weber carbs and a turbo conversion. From what i can see its missing the induction filter and hosing for the turbo air intake. Ive never worked on a turbo/modified system any things i should take caution or looks out of place from the photo? Cheers guys

Sounds a very interesting build -
There’s a tattooed arm that shouldn’t be in a shot of the engine! perhaps a better photo might allow people who know more than me about it to assist .

Here’s a photo from Racecars direct which might (not) help

The 1.9 gti was bonkers quick so with a turbo I bet it’s mental

I would also do a total job on the brakes as well to make the thing stops as well as it goes

Yeah the discs are rusted horribly. Im not sure weather to just install new pads, discs, clean and regrease pistons on the calipers. Or replace all the lines too ( something tells me thats a bit ocd )

Redbull can over the coil - haven't seen that little mod since the late 90's Maxpower days hehe

Nice find by the way.

Back in the day I drove a 205 Dimma with a turbo.. wheelspin didnt really seem to cease until you got to about 4th gear.

Back in the day I owned a turbo technics 205 gti and at the time there wasn't much to touch it until it ran out of revs/gears. I'm just glad that speed cameras weren't a thing back then redface

Thanks for the reply guys, yeah should be interesting. Cant wait to get it running. I need to look over the engine diagrams fully but does this turbo system have any modifications as i need to make sure everything is hooked up correctly. Surely the turbo has its own oil feed line which must of required a new hole in the block somewhere ,? on the coolant resevoir i see theres a tube which is attached to nothing. Aswell as this metal tube which is open beneath my hand excuse the oil change image.
