My dad had always fancied a try at hill climb racing and sprints and asked me if I wanted to go Half's in a cheep car to give it a go.

A couple of years ago we came across a 2005 fiesta st a and decided it was the car for us!

So first year of racing was 2018 with a completely standard car, fun was had, hill climbs at wiscombe park and Gurston down, sprint at Llandow, and a small one at clay pigeon raceway.

Amazingly I managed not to come last in any of the races, not the same can be said for my dad!

2019 the plan was to enter more and race more with bits and pieces done to the car, but along came my wife's and my first born, so he put a stop to all the fun in more ways than one biggrin.

So to this year, the car got out in for an MOT after a bit of time off the road and we were told it needed new springs, so that was first on our list, bit all the shops are shut and I'm down to working 4 days a week and 80% pay. So what's the thing to do when you can buy anything. Start stripping it out naturally.

Once things go back to normal I think the lost of bits will of grown but at the moment we will be looking at:
Suspension
Seats,
Harness,
Puma sport engine upgrades to a supposed 200 hp
Cage.

Just to check, have you carefully read the regs about stripping out the interior? It won’t be legal for the Road Car class without it.

Thanks for the note, yes we have read the regs and understand that. I'll admit over the next few seasons it may not be the most competitive, but the way I understood regarding some engine mods it would not be able to enter the road car class ether so in for a penny in for a pound!

Which engine regs? As long as you retain the block and gearbox casing, then it’s basically anything goes. Always worth a double check.

Speaking from experience I would have kept the headliner in, the condensation otherwise (if stored outside) is a bit of a pain as it drops down onto the seats!

I've got two MK6 Fiestas (one ST, one engine-swapped) so if you run into any interesting little issues I might be able to help.

Thanks for the offer, I'm sure some problems will crop up. In hindsight it may of been a bad idea removing the head liner but we learn from out mistakes smile
