suzuki ignis sport
Discussion
For the last 3 or 4 years I've had quite a strange obsession to ignis sports. there have been a few cars inbetween but this will be my 7th one now.
ive not had one since i sold my last one 12 months ago but i have continued to modify headlights for people. one of the breakers who i buy my lights off casually mentioned he had one but it wanted a bit of TLC then he was going to put it up for sale.
long & short of it is. it arrived by recovery truck to my parents house yesterday. unfortunately i am in self isolation at my missus house so the only pictures i have are from the seller & my dad is doing a few odd jobs on it to keep him busy

my dad has made a start on tidying the car up. first off was the bracket for a light bar. luckily this was only bolted on through the reg plate holes

also a small scuff that was on the bottom of the front bumper was taken care of

so a week or so ago i spotted a set of wheels that i thought would work well with the ignis angular lines so i bought these just in case i ended up in another ignis again!

plans are to get a good look over it when i can access to it & see exactly where we are with it, theres a few niggles to address & no doubt ill add the odd personal touch to it
thanks for looking

That's looking great. Mine's a 2005 in silver. I've been toying with replacing it with something more modern but it's so cheap to run for the thrills it gives that I've decided to keep it a while longer.
It's parked out on the street and some nasty driver smashed the driver wing mirror on passing. I was surprised to get a replacement for 20 quid from ebay scrap merchant and to fix took only a few screws to be undone. It's built and designed so sympathetically mechanically.
I love the gear change, the revvy engine and the feedback on spirited driving. It's so perfect on fast b roads.

Yeah totally agree with everything said here. Second hand bits are quite reasonable but the mechanical side of it can get abit expensive when you start shopping at the main dealer. Luckily the owners page on face ache is very friendly & lots of info on aftermarket parts can be found where people have fitted them over the years. Revvy twin cam
Short ratio box
Wheel at each corner
Recaro fishnets
What's not to like!
I've found out a lot of aftermarket bits come labelled as vauxhall agila, suzuki wagon r

I do like an ignis sport. I had a look at a couple before buying my clio.
I'd like to try a clio at some point. The lack of grunt in the iggy is obvious in a straight line but once into the bends the ratios are perfectly set out so you stay on the boil constantly. You can thrash the life out of it & not worry about being in serious trouble. Mercury00 said:
Those alloys will look great. The steelies are really nice too
I'm hoping the wheels suit the car not sure on colour yet I'll decide better once I line them up on the car.
Apparently the steels are worth a few quid. Im not a huge fan if I'm honest but a lot of people like the style

As cool as a super-mini gets.
I think they are quite addictive. My mates laugh at it then I chuck them the keys & they come back grinning like a Cheshire catwaynedear said:
I kinda know what you mean, I had an ignis 4grip 1500, bit less power but still fun when the cam changed up, not so great in corners though, brill in slippy stuff, almost felt rear wheel drive.
They seem to be a good light off roader. Certainly no Jimny but capable enough when the going gets tough my wheels arrived yesterday. expecting the other two today as the packages got split up in Germany. they look every good in person as they did in the photos!

I like to make my cars my own I find it hard to leave things alone. I've had a spare pair of rear lights which I've dug out of storage. I used red tint film on my old one & liked the look so used some red e-tech tint spray I had again lying around. ill reserve final judgement till they are on the car as im not sure how they will contrast against the yellow. the original ones are still on the car so not a great loss if they don't suit

also been modifying headlights whilst sat at home. I have got these up for sale but not overly fussed if they don't sell as ill use them on my ignis ive ordered 600ml of the e-tech yellow tint spray to have a play with the front lights to see what I can do
my jdm power fold mirrors have reached the storage warehouse in japan so should hopefully be on the way to me soon as I get the final shipping costs
thread is a little boring at the moment but hopefully ill be able to actually see the car soon!

I think white would look best for the alloys, I'm sure the standard ones were white anyway. It gives them a bit of a rally look.
sorry I missed this comment!yeah came standard in white. funnily enough my last one came from new with the white enkei wheels in silver & the recaro fishnets were done in black & cream leather. I guess who ever ordered it wanted it a bit more grown up
ok so a few days behind but a update none the less
managed a hour on the car whilst waiting to pick up some stuff for my parents
car has been sold to me as needing some TLC & after a quick look under the bonnet it would appear it needs a little love under there. most bits have been ordered or traced the fault
list as follows:
no air filter fitted
coilpacks fell apart
leads fell apart
plugs need changing
cam cover gasket leaking oil down plug holes which explains the above
injector wiring rubbed through airbox (common problem) im going to split the loom repair the wiring & run some conduit to tidy things up. running a differently routed air take means it wont happen again
aux belt loose (new belt just needs retightening)
no gas in the air con system
front fogs not working (traced to a dodgy fuse holder on the battery live side. going to rewire these into a empty slot in the engine bay fuse box.
few pictures of what was found

been busy on ebay sourcing replacement bits got most of it coming now just have to wait for it all to turn up & can start to show it some love again
chucked on the all red rears actually think they go well against the yellow paintwork

picture showing the stickers & the wide wheels fitted at mo. both will be coming off soon think the wheels are 8j wide, originals were 5j!

all 4 of my new wheels have arrived now. its taken 6 days for them to get from the eastern coast of Bulgaria to my doorstep. given the circumstances think that's pretty incredible since its taking deliveries over a week to get to me from within the uk!

yellow tint spray has arrived im going to have a play with the front lights always had a fetish for yellow fogs & im going to try the lights in yellow. will it be too much? only time will tell

so im patiently awaiting parts arriving from japan & the uk. id seen a intake set up I was really keen to try so after a quick marketplace search on faceache the following is in the post to me for a bit of a bargain price these retail at nearly £200 new

its a simota enclosed induction kit for the swift sport. itll need a bit of fettling to get a good fit. ive seen it fitted to a ignis before but the aircon had been removed & it was mounted a little further back than id like. itll be a work in progress but the price was too good to turn down

more of a update on this one.
snapped up a 5zigen backbox for when its goes for the exhaust to be done

made a start on the engine bay. its certainly a work in progress at present. pulled the cam cover off for painting & to replace the cam cover gasket that was leaking into the plug holes

new set of spark plugs fitted whilst I was in there & you can see the the magnetic sump plug for the next oil change

in preparation of fitting the simota filter. I knew the evap canister & the aircon would be in the way. the aircon system is dead & weighs a fair bit tbf. so the pipework, condenser & fan were all removed. this has made the room for the filter but has also revealed a very nice gap at the front of the engine should the want for turbo noises arise

in my previous post I mentioned about adapting the swift sport simota to fit the ignis, I spoke to a fellow owner who had one fitted & after a few messages I decided to buy that one off him with the already modified pipework

some blanking caps so I can blank off the evap canister pipework

jdm electric folding mirrors arrived (these have been fitted now) interestingly all wires are there from factory but were never available in the uk you just need the mirrors & the switch

I sent my wheels, cam cover & intake pipe for powdercoating so went & picked those up. turned out really well

with everything back. I wanted to make a start building the engine back up. encountered first problem, I had been supplied with a non vvt cam cover gasket

I should of sent it back but wanted it built up. so I have used the new gasket for the plug covers & reused the outer gasket as it wasn't leaking from here. I have since got the part number for the right vvt gasket so will order & replace the gasket next time im doing some work on the engine
powdercoated cam cover & intake pipe with simota enclosed airbox fitted

got a pair of coilpacks & some cheap leads fitted whilst I wait for my Suzuki sport leads from japan
