E82 BMW 135i Sport Plus Edition
Discussion
Hi All
I'm not sure how much interest there'll be in this given some of the exotica in this sub-forum!
Since we had a child we have historically leased my wife's car and I've owned the 'fun' car on the drive. Over the last six years my wife has had two Audi Q3's and 1 x Ford Kuga, where I've had a 335i, M3, MINI GP. I've now got a Tesla Model S which has taken over as the family car, so it was my wife's turn to have something fun.
She's always liked the E82 shape, and as I was able to influence her choice I convinced her to get the 135i.
It's a 2012 Sport Plus Edition:
Alpine White
Black Leather
40k miles
N55 engine ~306bhp
DCT gearbox

You may be able to see from the picture that the car has a vented bonnet. I'm not a massive fan of that so it'll be getting swapped out for a standard OEM bonnet shortly.
The car is in great condition. The only modifications I'll likely make will be a better sound system (it currently has the mid-range option), replace the bonnet, and also change the interior trim from silver to gloss black to match the mirrors. I'd like to paint the calipers in Estoril blue. They are 6-pot Brembo as standard! I'd actually prefer liquid yellow but I've been over-ruled!
As soon as the run-flats show any sign of wear they'll be getting replaced with decent go-flats and a can of gunk.
I've also replaced the iDrive screen with a fully-integrated 10.25" Android device to modernise the interior.

It's a lot of fun to drive. It feels like a mini version of the E92 M3 but slightly cheaper to run!

Nice.
I had a 335i e92 previously. Got rid of that and now have a maroon 135i as my sports car. Mine has the n54 so the temptation to modify is strong. They are great cars I think although I’ve had to replace half the cooling system and the oil filter housing gaskets but I quite enjoy doing the work.
Need some PS4’s when the current ones die and will probably go 10mm wider on the rears.
I put some different oil in it as well as they run pretty hot (supposedly meant to run cooler) - not sure about the n55.
Fits in nicely with the fleet. Gratuitous pic. Rx400h has now been replaced by fk2 civic type r

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone
My 335i had the N54 engine in. I had the JB4 with a BMS intake for a while, then an MHD flash. Great fun!
If things change for me in the near future I'd be tempted to buy an older 135i for myself and tinker with that. Or if my numbers come up, get a 1M!
It was ~36k miles when we got it late last year.
I've hopefully just secured a set of spare interior trim parts that I can wrap in piano black! I'll update as and when.

Any plans for more power?
I'm trying to resist tinkering with it mechanically to be honest. It's predominantly my wife's car, and I want to keep it as unmolested as possible and maybe take it to a few shows (unlikely this year now!).If things change for me in the near future I'd be tempted to buy an older 135i for myself and tinker with that.
