Hello everyone!
Thought I would do a ‘readers ride’ post on my car.
A little bit of background on my (fast-ish) car history first. After having my first car for 6 months, I moved to a Corsa VXR Blue edition, which I had for a year and did all the stupid boy racer mods to, mainly being silly loud exhausts. I had this one for about a year and traded it in for a Nurburgring Edition Corsa which had the proper Limited Slip Differential. As well as that, the previous owner forged the engine and had it mapped, again I only kept this for about a year before I sold it. I had then had a couple stop gaps such as a Saab 9-3 and a Suzuki Ignis Sport for about a year before I imported an Integra DC5! I absolutely loved it and had it for a couple of years. I didn’t really want to sell it, but a change in job made it so it wasn’t really the most practical thing to have.

That leads me on nicely to my M235i, for me I felt it offered a lot of performance and fun but also was a little more up-to-date and practical than the Integra, although I can see me getting another Integra in a few years. Initially I wanted a M240i but with a budget of about 20k, I was getting a very basic spec M240i. After countless hours looking at PH and Autotrader, I ended up finding an M235i that I quite liked the look of and was in my budget.

It was the ideal spec for me, with it being Mineral White and having the adaptive dampers, heated seats, adaptive headlights, and pro Nav amongst some other bits and bobs. I organised a flight down from Aberdeen to Gatwick to see it. I know it was a bit of a risky move but with it being really low mileage and an approved used BMW I thought I would take a chance on it. Once I got there it was absolutely as described and I took it on the 10 hour drive home that same day! Upon getting home too, I found out that it had an M Performance exhaust that wasn’t listed in the advert, can’t complain!

It’s a completely different beast to the Integra (unsurprisingly), it’s a lot better suited to motorway driving and doing long distances that I’ve had to do a few times since getting it in October. Being a 3.0l turbo as well, it is incredibly torquey from quite a low RPM and you can find yourself at triple digits in no time at all. I do love how sedate it can be in comfort mode though, but when you want it to be a bit more lairy, you can put it into sport and go for it. While it isn’t the drivers car than the Integra was, it’s a good half way house for me at the moment.

Since getting the car I haven’t really done a lot with it apart from drive it. After this corona virus is over, it’s going to get 4 new tyres and a service at BMW. At this point I’m probably going to look into some springs and spacers as I find it a little bit wobbly sometimes when pushing on. I like the idea of a sports cat and a map as these can push about 400 bhp with very minor modifications but I’m not sure if that’s something I will do yet.

In the meantime, here is a couple pictures of it when I have taken it to Cheddar Gorge and the Welsh Black Mountains, and also one of after I washed it last week!

Very nice OP ! I have been thinking of m140's for around a year but never pulled the trigger. Do like the 2 series but not sure with a baby on the way it will have enough storage. It is astonishiing how quick you can get into triple digits, i did this on my test drive and didnt even realise, also around the gatwick area ! The Performance exhaust definately adds to the occasion. Look forward to seeing any modifications you choose.

You’d be surprised how practical the 2 Series is actually, although it you have a baby on the way, the 5 doors may be a bit more practical haha. Yes, the M performance exhaust is definitely a worthwhile one to have.

Enjoy. Looks like you got a nice spec.

The N55 sounds really good, nicer than the B58 if you ask me especially with the MPE. I have a 140 but can’t fit the MPE because of the PPF.

And yes, three figures is all too easy.
