Always wanted a 300SL Coupé and since AMG built the SLS back in 2010 I’ve always wanted one of those too soooo badly!

I’m about to put a nice tick in the second box and I’m ridiculously - ridiculously - excited!

The car is a one owner 2010 car with 9000 miles covered and it’s finished in an absolutely incredible satin bronze grey colour with a red/black two tone interior. I wasn’t sure about it until I saw it and I drove all over the country looking at different ones but in flesh this thing presses all the right buttons for me!

The wheels had evidence of prior machining to remove kerb marks meaning that they don’t all have exactly the same edge profile. I’ve asked the supplying dealer to get them all machined to exactly match and then refinish them in the DB180 silver which is the same colour silver as the old 300SL cars had their bodywork. Interestingly the wheels don’t seem so expensive so I may get a spare set to keep “original.”

I’m buying it from DK Engineering and I’ve got to say that I’m deeply impressed by their attitude and customer service so far - absolutely first class.

Here it is, looking moody waiting for wheels...

I’ve been trying to sort out getting it booked in with AMG for the GT gearbox software which is apparently a night and day stand out upgrade but so far I’ve drawn a blank on that with AMG emailing me back to tell me I have to go through my home market. My local dealer is, pretty predictably, not helpful. “SLS - yes, is that a petrol or a diesel model you have.” - “Click....” Yes, indeed.

Also a very nice photo of the car when it was featured on Motor Authority a few years back for attending a show in Malaysia - you’ll have to try and ignore the SL before you’ll even notice the SLS!

Very nice, can you reach the door handles to shut the door when sitting in the seat ?

Woof! That is something else!

Congratulations, it looks absolutely incredible, especially in that colour - a real work of art.

I don’t think I’d ever get bored of pulling up in that and opening up those doors.

One of the interior. It looks great but I reckon it would have been a risk at the time - bronze and red and black on paper sounds horrible!

It’s not wearing any amg sls badges - replace? Or leave blank?

I’d leave them off if it was me - looks fantastic.

People in-the-know already know what it is, and people who aren’t will just be blown away by the sound and the doors laugh

That looks absolutely stunning - no wonder you are excited!

Personally I'd leave the badges off as I think it looks much cleaner without them.

Thats lovely! I agree with the lack of badges too, so many non AMG mercs have them which I think takes something away from it. Would love one of these one day smile

My friend drove out to AMG for the upgrade and it transformed the car according to him, if you do not get sorted with the poster above let me know and I will ask him how he arranged it.

Wow I’ve never seen one not white silver or black

What a absolute stunner, I remember the first time I ever saw one, it was just parked up but what a presence, still got it over the current AMG GT too

I love the interior, can’t stand black seats.

Are you going to use it everyday?

I think the SLS, in any guise, must be my favourite car. Fantastic looking and sounding things. Especially in that colour.

One day...
