Verify your car
Discussion
After reading yet another post from someone who claims to have a car they don't, I think it's time to introduce a PH verification thread.
Just post a picture of your car with a random household object nominated by the previous poster . Then nominate a different random household object for the next poster. The constant changing of object prevents one of the many stock images of supercars with custard being taken off the internet.
Note: photoshop is a risk, so encourage imaginative placement of the household object in a way that makes it more difficult to fake.
To get the ball rolling, I will call "Strawberry Nesquik" and then do an example...

Hehe. Thanks for comments.
In response:
- Yes, I know about custard, but as mentioned in the original post, this is more secure because the object keeps changing
- No, you can't stop photoshop, but you can make it a bit difficult. Besides, it's only a bit of fun, I'm not pitching this to the DVLA
- Yes, you could just do it in the thread, I agree, or here. Don't mind. Or neither if you prefer
- Yes, I might just get a lot of random posts. That would be fine, I'm not relying on this for anything, promise
- Is that my car. Nah, just found the photo on the Internet...

What if we dont?
Will you think any less of me? Will I not be part of the elite, the select, the important ones??
Will I be one of those "oh you know him, never seen a picture of his car. Dont listen to him"
...yes but I've written book on the subject, I know my...
Doesnt matter. Youve not verified your car. I've reported you..

Previously, I couldn't given given a tinker's cuss. But now, in order for the OP to alleviate the suspicion that he's just shouting "Look at me!", we need to know the thread in which the 'false' claim was made.
We can then decide whether or not we need to prove, to a bunch of strangers, that we own a particular car so that they can, presumably, sleep calmly at night.

Re purpose: the idea is if someone is advising you on whether they think their Golf, Ghibli or even Granada is any good, they do actually know. It’s about honesty and expertise, not showing off.

I'm not the only person on PH who has first hand experience of any number of cars which I no longer ownCan I post a picture of some custard and then some pictures of cars I haven't got any more? Will I then have your permission to answer other peoples' questions about one or more of them?

In any case, that’s kind of not the main problem we’re solving for here. Most of the fake claims on PH are not people claiming they used to own a Hurracan, they’re claiming they own it now. So think we’re covering 80% of the issue here with the custard et al verification method.
Oh, forgot to mention, the latest false claim was on the ‘Saving up for a Supercar’ thread, but I’m sure others can quote many more. Is it a big issue? Not really, I agree.
