My 'First' car - Alfa Romeo Giulietta
Discussion
Passed my test last July, and I was using my Grandads 2005 Astra H for a few months.
It had just under 60k miles on it, but those little drives to the shop and back every week had really done a number on it, I don't think there was a panel that wasn't heavily dented/scratched, and after only a few months, I was turning the ignition on in hope rather than expectation, the thing was knackered, and it was never going to get me through last winter. It barely got to December. So the time had came, to buy my first car.
Did just about everything my family&friends told me not to do.
Paid a deposit over the phone, and 2 days later spent 4 hours on a train to Nottingham to pick up this little Italian beauty (in my eyes anyway)

2010 1.4 Multiair Veloce.
Few things needed doing, such as cambelt and water pump, I replaced the discs & pads all round, and managed to fix the central brake light (who'd have thought it, dodgy electrics on an Alfa?!
)
Here she is after a quick mini valet at the local wash, turns out white cars get filthy pretty damn easily in this current climate.
Also got the wheels powder coated black.

All in all i'm pretty damn happy with the car, it's lovely to drive, and the Dynamic mode really does change how the car drives, the throttle response is crazy. And for a car fast approaching 10 years old, these have aged really well.
Thanks for reading!

Great Car,
Here is mine 2015 plate...

They drive really nicely and has been the most reliable car I have owned. Since the car has been around for almost 10 years any of the small issues were completely rectified by 2014 onward cars. Since you have a 2010 you will get the occasional gremlins as with any early car.
My wife wanted a Golf until she sat in the beautiful Italian brown leather interior of the Alfa and she was sold ever since.
For me, I drive cars that I look at everyday and smile. I just don't get that with the run of the mill hatchbacks you see today.
The cambelt requires a specific set of locking tools so I would recommend going to a specialist rather than a standard garage. Unless you are doing it yourself.

I got a bluetooth adaptor that mimics the cd-changer so kept the original fascia (don't like the custom install screens) and have music streaming - https://www.alfaowner.com/threads/bluetooth-stream...
I change the oil and oil filter every 9k (Castrol Edge with the same spec as Selina). Recommend you do, it's easy but lot's of bolts hold the undertray in.
There's facebook community for mods/tuning if that's your thing.

Who could resist a red Alfa with tan leather, looks great. I'd love to retrofit the seats in my silver Giulietta.Nice 1st car.
An Alfa 33TI was my 2nd car a thousand years ago.
Owned alfa's ever since, currently driving a Giulietta Veloce and looking at a Giulia for my next one.
Regarding the full cam belt service you are looking into, dont forget to also change the micro oil filter as this is a must for the MA engine.
