For the past 8 years I have wanted one of these, I almost bought one in 2013 but bottled it and went for a BMW instead. Life has carried on, times got tough, then better, a few cars and vans have passed through my ownership and I decided to start looking and scratching that Mercedes itch that’s been getting worse in the past few months

Technically it’s not my first Mercedes, that was a Vito V6 but it is my first Mercedes car.........

Anyway i had a limited budget, it had to be a wagon, couldn’t be black and had to be a facelift car.

Behold the cheapest 14 plate C63 Wagon I could find with a warranty, sensible miles, low owners, FSH and decent tyres, it’s just a shame about the wheel finish.

Anyway the trip began at 7.30am last Monday

First of all Train from Aberdeen to London, horribly this was last Monday, 2 days prior to the tragedy that happened near Stonehaven

Reading Material sorted, it was a rather pleasant journey to London Kings X

Arrived in London, to near 40 degree heat, the overground was almost unbearable, moreso with a face covering. I was picked up in the car at the station and first issue, no aircon. I was far from amused as I wanted to have a look over the car and head right up the road if it checked out ok.

Aircon regassed, car inspected, faults noted, paperwork done and standard forecourt shot prior to my long drive north

Steady cruise of 75-80 all the way back to Aberdeen, nowhere near as bad on fuel as I expected, about on par with my E90 M3

It was my birthday the following day, so what better way to start than getting used to my new past time

Mrs MRT, myself and MRT jnr spent the afternoon at a hotel just outside of the city so a few pictures were taken with her R32

Probably the best birthday present I have ever bought for myself

I have spent the week running it to work, and It ticks so many boxes, except economy, that not great but the noise, and sense of occasion obliterates the high teen fuel figures

I hate the wheels in the silver finish so these are due to be refurbished in the correct finish next Friday, new rear tyres are being fitted at the same time. The front bumper needs some paint as it’s been poorly refinished, but other than that I’m delighted considering the price of the car.

I took a few hours on Saturday to give the car a bath, and a much needed clean inside, some dealer “prep” can be questionable, and this fell into that category

Thanks for taking the time to read it through, I will update the thread as I use it, and make the much needed changes

Always nice seeing a write up of the collection - even better when it’s a car like that.

Hope you get on well with it, really like it in the silver.

Great birthday present! Love the 204 wagon, I had A saloon a couple years ago brilliant daily and the noise never gets old! I live in Lancashire and have family in Inverness and it would do 30mpg on the nose on that run, 12 going couple miles to work and back laugh
You mentioned wheels did you want the 19 multispokes? If so I wouldn’t bother as they are prone to cracking (I had two crack) and merc want £600 per wheel for a new one! Other than that was completely faultless! A secondary cat delete is a nice mod if you want a tad more noise and simple remap takes them 500+ bhp.

Is the AC now working? Was it from a dealer?

Looks very smart and a great companion for the R32.

Thank you, it’s the first time I have taken a lengthy train journey to collect a car, I’m not one for taking pictures usually.

With regards to the wheels, I wanted 18s, they don’t look as nice as the 19s but as stated they don’t crack. I hate the finish and the centre caps, rectification of this is in hand.

30mpg? You must have been sitting at 55-60 on that trip?

The driveway is indeed starting to look busy again, I have a Mini Cooper s that’s hopefully going to be sold off next week once I’ve fitted a new exhaust to it.

Yes, aircon now functions perfectly, I wasn’t best pleased in that heat.

Excellent choice. This is what I want to do sometime soon as I sold my T5 Campervan to fund it. I had a C350 Estate, loved it and should never have sold it, but it didn't sound that amazing. The C63 will sort this out for me.
Enjoy.

Thank you, this is what attracted me to this car, it doesn’t shout out what it is, to those that know, know

I sold my 4th T5 a few months ago, as I thought I was going to be made redundant, thankfully this never happened and here we are.

Do it, you won’t regret it

I thought I would update this as I go. The car will never be perfect, but I want it as good as I can get it. Let’s go.....

I absolutely HATED the silver finish on the wheels, it was clearly a cheap job and done very poorly which annoyed me every time I walked towards or even looked at the car. To rectify this I booked it in to The Wheel Specialist as they came highly recommended by a few friends that have used them in the past for a full refurb in the original diamond cut/grey finish.

Upon receiving the finished articles I wasn’t disappointed, then I was, then I wasn’t. The wheels were spot on, except NSF one. They cut it too deep and around the centre is a mess, alas they had ordered me a brand new wheel at their cost from Mercedes which I am having fitted today. I’m hoping I can keep the original as a spare, I’m hoping a token gesture to recompense Them will suffice.

At the same time new OEM centre caps and two new rear PS4 tyres, in the correct size were fitted as the car came with 40 rather than 35 profiles, which once I’d kicked myself for not noticing when collecting the car it was something I couldn’t un see. Annoyingly the 40 profile tyres are like new

I took a couple of quick snaps the other day on the way to work, a massive improvement over when I first got it.

Wheel finish before

After

That’s lovely, especially in silver with subtle wheels.

I love the noise they make; it’s absolutely filthy. Enjoy.

Have you burnt your shins on the exhaust when getting stuff out the boot yet? hehe

I much prefer the 18's. The 19's are too large.

My friend kept doing that in the central exit exhaust in his old Focus ST estate.

My friend and I went on a run today, and he’s still going on about the noise it makes, I must admit it’s better when it’s hot. We both went past guys working at the roadside loading a timber truck, they loved the noise we both made at 11/10ths

It’s the one thing everyone talks about with these!

I remember a few years ago, the demonstrator from our local dealer was fuelling up. When it started, it made the metal cladding of the forecourt roof reverberate. Made me smile loads.
