Supercharged Range Rover L322
Discussion
So my last post here was of my beloved E55 AMG Estate, alot has happened since then (not all necessarily good!).
Anyway the yearning for an E60 M5 became too much for me, ive always been a huge fan of all generations of M5 and been drooling over the E60 ever since watching Mr Clarkson review them back in 2005 ish. The want for the V10 experience became too strong and i pulled the trigger on an immaculate Interlagos Blue 2005 M5 in March just before lockdown began. Sadly the car totally lived up to its internet reputation and became one of if not the worst ownership experience I have ever had!! Shame as when it was working it was a cool thing but hey ho, play with matches you get burned
If your thinking of buying an E60 M5, buy an E55 AMG.
Moving on...
E55 gone, 986 Boxster S gone, E60 M5 gone. In hindsight I wish I had kept the E55 and the Boxster S but I dont keep cars long and always try and buy outright so they had to go to fund the next. A strange desire to see more of the UK brought about a decision to buy an old used caravan to drag the family around the country with, shockingly the E55 with all of its tree stump pulling torque has no type approval so cannot be fitted with a tow bar.
A Range Rover was the top of my list, I know not the obvious choice when you have sufferred from horrendous reliablity from an E60 M5, the L322 being one of the most comfortable cars ive ever been in I started looking at either a very nice TD6 or a slightly mileagey TDV8. After viewing 8 cars of differing spec and miles I was on the verge of giving up on the idea, everything was either broken, on the verge of breaking or whispering in my ear it was not a good car. Sometimes you get that feeling when you view cars based on what the present owner is like, there are some people you just feel comfortable buying a car from.
A late night ebay trawl brought up a 2006 Supercharged V8 Range Rover that looked stunning and the advert read well. Would it really be a good idea to buy a petrol Range Rover?! A little internet research and a chat with the owner resulted in me viewing the car 100 miles from home. Pretty much knew it would be coming home with me as soon as I saw it, looked fantastic and the owner was a gent. Full history, recently replaced parts, 94k on the clock and everything worked
Its fast enough considering its immense size and weight, but feels a bit wrong when you really push on. it sounds goooooooooood....
Being a Supercharged it is absolutely fully loaded, Piano Black trim which I really like, Heated Seats front and rear, heated steering wheel, harmon kardon, later touch screen head unit, rear entertainment pack, tv, dvd, venture cam, reverse cam, Supercharged 20" wheels etc. 4.2 V8 Supercharged believe its a Jaguar engine, from the S Type R?? It is stunning to drive, has the most comfortable front seats ive ever sat in, and makes every journey a pleasure. A 400 mile round trip to Alton Towers with 5 of us in was swallowed up without so much as a twitch in the lower back
So far 2k miles covered trouble free. I can hear you all saying - what about the fuel costs? Have you sold your soul to the devil in exhange for petrol vouchers?! Well on a run its showing 26mpg, around town 14mpg. Its actually quite similar to my E55 was for fuel. Oh and did I mention how good it sounds?!

These L322's seem very good cars when they are running well. From the readers cars thread they seem to either be loved and reliable or a constant money pit that eventually get moved on. I hope yours is the former!
This one looks tremendous and has an "old money" feel to it. In my eyes they are very sensitive to the spec - some look old and chavvy where others like yours have grace and class.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy many trouble-free V8-rumbling miles.
